With schools and colleges opening every now and then in the country, one would think that the education system is definitely running well. But the quality of education has become stagnant and obsolete. We are still following the old age practices of learning in this advanced world. It is high time that an educational revolution takes place in the country. But before we jump to the revolution, let us discuss the problems that are gripping our education system.
Lack of practical knowledge
Theories and books have dominated the education system in India and practical knowledge is mostly ignored. Students generally study to pass the examination and then forget all the things they have learned during their classes. This is due to the fact that of lack of practical knowledge. It is said that once you involve all your senses on something, then that thing lasts longer in the brain. Practical knowledge and skill-based education is a far cry for the Indian education system.
Nearly no research or critical analysis
Problems solving skills are most important when you move into the real world. At the school level, it can be learned by participating in problem-solving projects with the use of creative and critical thinking. However, most of the students don't have their own approach towards any problem and they mostly depend on their parents, teachers or friends for even the smallest of the problems. Case studies and research-based assignments can help to develop this skill but the fact is that this is ignored by most of the school as they only stick to what which would increase the marks in the exam.
Obsolete syllabus
It is high time that decade-old syllabus needs to be changed if the country is to improve its educational system. Lots of technological and scientific improvements are taking place across India and therefore the courses need to be updated to the changing times. One may, however, be the best, but if no improvement takes place, then sooner or later that thing would no longer exist.
