Chapter 1 - Grumpy Beginnings

I crashed into someone.

"Watch where you're going, nerd." The person that bumped into me said.

I rolled my eyes and crouched down to pick my books that fell on the ground.

"What? Cat got your tongue?

He seemed like a real jerk, along with his attitude and disgusting personality.

I looked around the hallway and I've noticed we had made a scene.

Great.

Just go away, and leave like nothing has happened. My physiology brain said.

"What are you? Mute?"

I rolled my eyes, "I think I'm going to be late for class." Wow, what a great excuse.

Before I walked away, a muscular hand pulled me. The audience gasp as I felt my back press against the lockers. He leaned down next to my ear and whispered.

"No one dares walk away from me when I'm speaking to them." He growled, I swallowed.

"And you're the first one," He continued, "And you will regret ever doing that."

What does that mean?

I rolled my eyes, "Whatever." I tried pushing him away but he won't budge. It's like he has a metal chest or something.

I realized that our nose was touching, I can feel the mint breath on my face. "Just watch where you are going, nerd." He smirked and walked away.

I was dumbfounded. What had just happened?

***
"Achoo!"

The worst thing about this history class is the kid with acne all over his face, that sneeze all the time. The funny part is no one said bless you.

Instead the whole class groaned and say how disgusting it was especially when he sneezed very loud.

The teacher sighed, "Bless you, Zachary."

"T - Thank you, Mr. Scott." The class sneered, except me. I wanted to say bless you but I know the drill.

"Anyway, today class, we are going to be learning about Abraham Lincoln..." The Voice started to fade away when I remembered what happened this morning between Me and Alex.

And I promise you will regret ever doing that.

What does he mean?

I lost my train of thoughts when I heard someone calling my name, "Riley!" I snapped my eyes open.

"Yes, sir." I said.

"I asked you a question." Mr. Scott said.

What question?

I blinked, "Can you repeat the question?" I asked.

The class snickered as he sighed, "Why was Abraham Lincoln the best president?"

"Um, because... He is credited with holding the Union together and leading the North to victory in the Civil War. Further, his actions and beliefs led to the emancipation of African-Americans from the bonds of slavery." I answered. Yep, call me a nerd.

The whole class started at me; like what the heck did I just said. Mr. Scott was surprise too. Ha, take that suckers!

"Wow, great. That's the correct answer." I smiled and looked down on my notebook, picking my pen up from the desk pretending to think while clicking on the bottom of the pen. Awkward.

"Another question..." Mr. Scott continued. In the corner of my eyes, I saw Alex looking at me with angry look; like he has problem with me.

I looked away, turning my head around. Why is he so grumpy?
