"Cas, seriously. Eat something, man. Go to bed. It's been almost three days."
"I'm fine, Sam. I don't need anything."
"Yeah, you do."
Cas didn't answer. Just sat by Dean's bed and stared at him.
"Okay. Whatever. Have it your way. But Dean would rather you take care of yourself. You know, he'll be fine."
Sam pulled up a chair next to Cas and they sat in silence for a while, both hoping and praying to see Dean's green eyes open.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cas had barely noticed when Sam had left. He barely ever noticed anything besides Dean.
"Oh, Dean. I'm so sorry. If it weren't for me, that angel never would have targeted you. This is all my fault. I love you. I never wanted this to happen."
It was quiet, but Cas could almost have sworn he heard Dean's familiar husky voice answer. "Don't...don't you dare even go there, Cas. Don't beat yourself up."
"Dean?" He didn't expect an answer. I must be hallucinating. I've had too many sleepless nights lately.
"Yeah, Cas. It's me. Who'd you think? Now don't just sit there staring. Go get someone to take these damn tubes out of me." Cas didn't need to be told twice.
By the time Sam arrived from his motel room Dean was already checking out and ready to go.
"Dean!"
"Hey, Sammy."
He crossed the room and had Dean enveloped in a bear hug in about .2 seconds.
"You scared me, man. All the shit we've beaten and a car crash is what almost got you? You're slipping. How'd you even recover so fast anyway?"
"I am not slipping! And I don't know. The doctors were pretty freaked out. Said it was a miracle and a couple of them started praying and shit. Now where's my car?"
It was at times like these when Sam was actually grateful for all the times Dean had forced him to learn about cars and how to fix them.
"She's out front."
"Awesome. Let's go."
Dean was dying to get home. It was torture to have Castiel right there next to him and not be able to really talk to him and find out if he felt the same way. To not be able to touch him at all or kiss him like he wanted to or tell him just how much he loved him.
When they walked in the door of the bunker Sam looked from Dean to Cas and back to Dean again and left the room without a word.
"Hey, Cas, can I talk to you a minute?" Dean asked. He didn't know why his palms were suddenly sweating or why he was so nervous. Maybe because this was the first guy he ever liked. Or because he cared more about not screwing things up this time than he usually did. Cas was special and so, whatever the reason, forcing the words out of his mouth was harder than he'd thought and he felt like his words were tripping over each other and like his tongue was suddenly too large for his mouth. "I like you, Cas."
"I figured you did or you wouldn't have kept me around this long or helped me so many times or always be there for me the way you have. I like you, too, or I wouldn't have pulled you out of hell or fallen from heaven for you or always come when you called me. What's your point?"
"No. I mean I like you." He sighed. How could he explain what he meant to an angel who'd never been in a relationship or felt these things before? "Do you know anything about the different kinds of relationships between humans? Specifically girlfriends or...or boyfriends?"
"Do you want to be my boyfriend, Dean?"
"I don't know. I think so. But only if you want me to."
"I would like that."
Dean's face lit up and he grabbed Cas and pulled him close to him, pressing their mouths together. Cas was surprised at first but it felt good and he soon relaxed into Dean's embrace. Dean moved his hands to the inside of Cas's trench coat and placed his hands on his hips while Cas ran his fingers through Dean's hair. Cas' stubble was rough on Dean's face. He wasn't used to that feeling, but he supposed he'd get used to it. He actually kinda liked it. He bit softly at Cas' bottom lip and Cas let out a small moan, making Dean shiver. He'd had a lot of kisses over the years, but none of them had felt this good or right or made him this unbelievably happy. He was so glad Cas was his at last and he never wanted to let him go.
"Hey, Cas, babe. Do you want to move this to my bedroom?"
Okay so here it is. The next update. Sorry it's been forever. I've been really busy and really stressed out and some stuff's been going on and whatnot but I've got an idea for the next part and it's adorable if I do say so myself.
ALSO, I don't know if you noticed but I added something to the section titled Morning. If you can spot the change comment what it is.
