♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥Jeongguk reaches out to run the pad of his index finger between Taehyung's eyebrows in attempts of easing the tension in them. The feel on his finger is warm, a faint sense of radiation seeping in. He pulls his hand away and watches the frown on Taehyung's face go deeper.
"What's with that face, hyung?" He asks, sending the older boy a pout as he squeezes a throw pillow in his arms.
Taehyung's expression switches from an indignant sulk to a gentle smile, the one his lips naturally display when he's showing fondness towards the younger boy. He shakes his head, raising both his hands in the air. He gestures Jeongguk to come closer as he does squeezing motions with his fingers. "You're too cute." He coos.
Jeongguk lets out a scoff but he humors his hyung, leaning forward a bit. He doesn't feel Taehyung's hand on his cheeks, only the cold evening breeze that has managed to circulate in the small expanse of his bedroom. He can't help it, the familiar warmth pressing against the back of his eyelids is persistent. The tears are coming again. He hopes his image is grainy enough so Taehyung doesn't notice.
It takes a bit more will for Jeongguk to successfully stop the tears, and Taehyung is staring at him pensively. "Don't be sad, kookie." His deep, hoarse voice says. It's anything but comforting. Jeongguk wants to hear his hyung's voice for real, whispering against his ear with warm breaths that blanket the sensitive skin with soft tingles and promises of always.
It's so unfair. "I'm not sad." I need you.
He shakes his head, dragging in a huge breath. "I'm fine." Come back.
"Aren't you running out of time?" He asks. I'm running out of time.
Taehyung's expression turns from concern to sudden realization. He runs his fingers over his head, and Jeongguk knows he's still not used to it from the way his lips tighten. He's still not used to the absence of tufts of hair he so fondly ran his fingers through only a couple of months ago. Now there's only a faint carpet of dark hair over the roundness of his head. He's still not used to it, just like Jeongguk isn't used to not having him around.
"It's time." Taehyung says forlornly, but he's offering a reassuring smile. "I'll see you soon. Tell Jimin to stop going on a stupid diet." He lets out a small laugh. Jeongguk tries to mimic it but his throat is clogging up, the repressed emotions tightening its grip on where oxygen is supposed to go through.
"I will." He manages to croak. I wish you could tell him yourself. I wish you were here. "See you later hyung." He settles for a small wave.
And the image is gone. Taehyung has disappeared. The window on the screen flashes, the words 'Call ended 00:32:01' displayed in light grey text just above 'Space Cadet Kim Taehyung has signed out'.
The idea of two years without his hyung engraves itself repressively at the back of Jeongguk's mind and somehow it gets more difficult to breathe as he counts each day off his calendar.
