A slam poem I guess

I've been trying to see the light but lately i feel like the definition of darkness

When a metaphor turns into a statement you never meant to become addiction

It's a way of saying that you're tired of feeling alone

When a simple word can keep you asleep at night it turns into hope

Lost hope when you realize that you're letting yourself down again

The promises you make to never let anyone be dragged into your dim light

Fading by the shadows more and more people crowd around it

More and more feelings and darkness comes

God dammit you never meant for this to happen

You wanted a life and a education and you wanted to be loved

All you wanted was for this not to happen

No.

You seem to be looking the other way baby because you don't realize turning your head left right up down will not get you into the direction you need to go

You never seem to ask yourself how to anyways

But doesn't mean I wont ask you

Because there's still a slim chance of hope when it is a small portion.

A small portion of pills, food, cuts it does not matter

There is still a small chance of hope.

When you realize the way you think of things is the way your parents told you to think of it

Of all the monsters in the closet

They never told you when they came out they were critized by their love also

When you're told you'll find your prince they never told you it takes time

No magical love stories can become by the snap of your fingers or a lost shoe

They never told you that it's okay not to be bottle blonde or a barbie slim waist

We were told what we thought the truth was

We were hidden from reality in the dark wrapped up in out own fate and desires coated in anxiety and depression

We never told ourselves our own thoughts.

We never listened to ourselves.
