"I love you, boy."
"I love you too."
"It's you and I."
"Baby it's me and you."
"Ain't no matter what they say, ima love you every single day."
I smile at him as we sang the song back and forth to each other on the way to the doctor for the babies check up to see if it was a boy or a girl.
We couldn't throw a gender reveal party since we were the only two people who knew, so this was our choice.
I was about twenty weeks pregnant now and Christmas was right around the corner. We had decided we would tell our parents on Christmas.
I had resorted to wearing baggy shirts as now. I wasn't showing a lot but I feel like someone could notice if they looked hard enough. Thankfully it was winter in New York so we all had to wear layers of clothing.
We arrive at the doctors and we sign in and wait to be called.
We waited about ten minutes before they called me back. I sat down on the table and I lifted my shirt so they could put the ultrasound on.
"Are you guys excited to find out the gender today?" The doctor asks as he places the cool gel on my stomach.
I nod and Forrest speaks up, "I hope it's a boy."
"I don't mind either," I laugh.
We had gotten a little more comfortable about the baby subject. We have already planned to get still when we tell our parents and what we were going to do.
The doctor turns on the screen and says, "alright let's see if the baby is gonna let us tell today." She begins to move the ultrasound transducer around and we begin to see a little blob on the screen that is our baby.
The baby is as big as an banana...apparently. That's what this pregnancy app told me at least.
"Alright, you see this right here?" She points to the screen.
I squint a little more to try to see more detail, "the babies lower abdomen?"
"Yes we call that the hamburger sign to show that it is a female. See the clitoris situated between the labial lips looks like a hamburger between two buns, or three lines, where the labia would be the buns of the hamburger and the clitoris would be the meat."
"So we are having a girl?"
The doctor laughs, "yes, congratulations you are having a baby girl."
I smile and look over to Forrest who looked like he was going to explode with excitement, "fuck yes."
We leave the doctor a few minutes later and get in the car and that's where we begin to lose control.
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe it's a girl!" Forrest exclaims and turns to me, "Emma we're having a baby girl!"
I smile and kiss him, "i thought you wanted a boy?"
"Yes but it's even better that it's a girl because now I get to cuddle and make her a daddies girl!" He pauses, "We need to start thinking of baby names," he tells me as we begins to drive back to his house.
I laugh, "okay we can start thinking when we get to your house."
I begin to start hearing him mumble names as he's driving.
Needless to say, he's excited to have a baby.
We get to his house and he grabs a piece of paper and a pencil out of his backpack and brings it up to his room.
