Claire's pov
After what felt like forever we had finally landed off the plane and drove off.
We past the 'welcome to Hawkins' sign and I couldn't be more excited.
My mom and I had thought it would be best to move to Indiana to get away from my dad and also my best friend lived in Hawkins.
"Ready to see your new home. " my Mom said turning into a street.
I hadn't seen the house my mom thought it would be fun to keep it a surprise.
"Ready." I said sitting up straight.
"Here it is." she said as we pulled into a drive way of a beautiful house.
"Mom this is beautiful oh my god." I said unbuckling my seatbelt and getting out of the truck.
"Glad you like it sweetie why don't you take a box and find a room, the last door on your left is mine but the other 3 are all yours." she said opening the truck.
I grabbed a box labeled Claire's room and walked to the front door. The inside was as beautiful as the outside. There was a staircase leading to the rooms and a huge living room.
I walked up the stairs admiring the amazing house and stopped in front of 4 rooms, 2 on the right and 2 on the left.
After looking I picked my room. It was the room closest to the stairs on the right. It had the best window and it was the biggest out of all of the 3.
I set my box down and ran back downstairs to my mom.
"Find a room honey." she asking with a box in her hands.
"Yes I did and I love it." I said with a big smile.
"I'm glad."
She said walked past me into the house as I went to grab another box. This one was a little more heavy than I thought and it slipped out of my hands.
I waited for it to hit the ground but it didn't.
"Woah there, you alright." a voice asked in front of me.
I looked up at saw a boy with brown hair that was styled perfectly and he was wearing jeans and a green sweater.
"Oh yeah yeah thanks for that." I said with a small smile.
"So your the person who bought this house." he said with a smile.
"Uh yeah my mom and I just moved here from California." I said pointing behind me.
"California? That's a long move." he said.
"Yeah well that's good I guess were always moving around but hopefully this is the last and my best friend moved here a couple years ago thought I'd try it out." I said shrugging.
"Best friend." he questioned.
"Uh yeah actually you might know him, Billy Hargrove.." I asked.
"Billy um you're his best friend" he faced changed quickly as he heard his name.
"Yeah do you know him."
"Um no not that much." he said scratching the back of his neck and sighed looking down.
"Oh well if you see him around mind telling him to call me." I said with a smile.
"Uh y-yeah sure." he said not meeting my eyes.
"Oh I'm Claire by the way, Claire Wilson." I said holding my hand out.
"Uh Steve Harrington." he said shaking me hand.
"Harrington? Wait I think Billy's talked about you before, you sure you don't know him." I said with a small laugh.
"Uh yeah we really never talked, just had a couple classes." he said.
"Oh ok well um do you mind helping me out as you just I saw can't carry much."
"Yeah of course." he said picking up the box of books and following me into the house.
"Hey mom this is Steve, he lives next door, he's gonna help me with my boxes." I said as my mom came out of the kitchen.
"Hello Steve thank you for helping my daughter." she said.
"Of course." he said before following me up to my room.
We made it up to my room and set the boxes down.
"Wow you know I just realized your the first boy in my room." I said laughing.
"Happy to be the first." he said with a smile.
He walked over to my window and sat down by it.
"Nice window, my room is right across." he said looking out.
"Really well I guess we'll be seeing a lot of each other." I said.
He looked at me with a smirk. I was confused to why but then I realized what I had just said.
"Oh oh no not like that I mean-."
"I know I know I'm just messing, we should probably go get the rest of your stuff." he said as he stood up.
"Yeah come on." I said walking to the door.
••••
After a couple hours we had finished bringing at the boxes and furniture and it was now staring to get dark. My mom was on the verge of falling asleep on the couch and I walked Steve out to his house.
"Thanks for helping me today, that probably wasn't how you planned your day going." I said as we made it to his door.
"No don't worry about it, I wasn't really gonna do anything anyway and I'm glad to welcome you to Hawkins." he said.
"Yeah thanks for that and do you know of any cool places to go to, I like to read and take walks a lot." I said rubbing my arm.
"Uh I know a couple , I could take you some time if you'd like."
"That'd be great and maybe I can get to know you more"
"Yeah that would be nice"
"Well I better get going its been along day." I said yawning.
"Yeah me too, uh this was fun, the talking to you." he said opening his door.
"It was I'll see you later Steve." I said walking across to my house.
I walked inside and saw my mom had went to her room and I turned off the lights and walked up. I closed my door and went to sit by my window. I looked over and saw steve changing. I stood there for a second until he turned to his window.
"Shit, shit." I said turning and jumping on my bed.
I laid there before getting up and changing into my pjs making sure I was away from the window and laid down on the bed. Tomorrow I was hopefully gonna find Billy and surprise him.
