that day daniel lumbered around in his office, his crystal eyes staring out of the huge window that sat in the room he worked in.his assistant came in occasionally, giving him updates on what was going on with the company, but the boss was just not with her today. his mind and thoughts scattered everywhere, she noticed.
his gaze usually landed on the clock that sat on his desk, right next to his macbook, in the middle of two photographs of him and - corbyn. he used to do that every time, wondering when the clock would strike six so he could pack up and leave, so he could run back home and give his husband a kiss on the cheek.
their love was that simple.
a simple kiss, and that too, on the cheek, sufficing for an entire day of not being together.
where had that love gone?
shaking his head to the thoughts, daniel let his concentration fall back to the pen in his hand, the notepad before him. the macbook in front of him glared at him with all its brightness, blinding his eyes just for a second, immediately making him wince and lower the brightness down to a bare minimum.
he tried and tried to think. to put his mind in motion and to get some work done. he attempted to write down ideas to upgrade the economical and social status of the company.
nope, his wandering brain just would not let him process anything but the topic of corbyn.
he sighed.
well, that's a complete waste of a perfectly good day, he thought, packing his stuff away and quickly sauntering out of the tall building, a faint smile etched across his face, to convince everyone that he was alright.
he was.
daniel was alright.
everything he knew, everything he loved was falling apart, but sure, he was alright.
[🔆🧡⚜️]
daniel was in his car, on the way back home. but as he drove down the familiar roads, the palm trees standing tall and the street lights welcoming him with a soft golden glow, daniel realized that home didn't feel like home no more.
it felt like a prison cell, just with a little more freedom and living space.
daniel really did not want to go back home.
he didn't want to breath in the suffocating air; to gaze at pointless photo albums, and he certainly did not want to relive memories that were once so sweet.
so he turned his car around.
a sharp u-turn in the middle of the road with a screech of the tires barely fazed daniel.
he whizzed past signboards, and parked his car at the curb of a road.16 limelight ave.
the brunette got out of the car and locked it, walking up the streets.
he remembered coming here a long, long time ago.
just a few blocks away from him was the fated skatepark where he and corbyn first met.
ah, good times.daniel smiled faintly at the memory.
sure, he'd scraped his knee pretty dang bad, but hey, he was alright.especially since he got to score a date with the cute blonde.
their first date was at the cute diner just blocks away from the skatepark. the skatepark was a rendezvous point for the both of them.
daniel had arrived at the diner ten minutes late, due to freaking out over his outfit at home. at the end, his friend and greatest confidant, jonah marais, had pushed him out the door because daniel had taken way too long in trying to tame his already made up hair.
daniel had arrived at the cafe to a frantic blonde, who confessed that he had been stood up many times before. to say that the brunette felt bad was an understatement.
so daniel brought corbyn to the beach, where they had bought popsicles and had sat on the sand, talking about random things while they stared at the calming waves crashing against the shore.
daniel had gone home giddy with excitement, at which jonah surpressed a smile. jonah was glad his very single best friend was putting himself out there again.
corbyn had gone home with the smell of the ocean in his hair, and with blissful memories engraved in his brain. he had laid in his bed, staring at the stars on the ceiling, reminiscing the day he had spent with the handsome brunette.
that one date led to many more, and pretty soon, daniel had gotten on one knee and proposed.
damn, those were the days, thought daniel, as he trudged up the sidewalk.
a neon sign flashed ahead.
ever curious, the brunette walked faster, eager to check the shop out.
he entered the aesthetic little shop.
two customers looked at him, then disregarded him and looked back at their phones. one had curlers in her hair, and another had her hair down, with foils stuck in random places.
obviously getting highlights."hi! have a seat, i'll be with you in a moment. we're a little short on hands at the moment. i'm jack, by the way", a curly head chirped.
daniel simply smiled and took a seat at one of the recliners in the shop. the sole hairdresser bustled about the shop, fixing up the customers.
finally, he made his way over to the blue-eyed boy.
"so, how can i help you today... er-"
"it's daniel. and um.. i honestly just wandered in here... but i was thinking... i want to dye my hair blonde"
and that's how daniel was sat in the hairdresser's chair while jack did his hair for the next two and a half hours as daniel confided in jack about all his problems.
