Lilah's life had been perfect- had been perfect. She had a big group of friends, had good grades, had a perfect family, or at least had a family she thought was perfect. She was grateful for everything she had, and she knew she was a very lucky girl.
But all of that changed on November 1, when her dad had his annual doctor's checkup. Suddenly diagnosed with brain cancer, 10-year-old Lilah was left home alone with her 6-year-old younger brother as her mom lost sleep going to and from from the hospital.
And now, after suffering for 4 long years, Lilah had to move overseas to the U.S in a 3-person family in order for her mom's job. It may sound selfish, but Lilah had cried for days when she heard this. Now, there would be no childhood friend that she had grown up forever with, and she would have to learn an entire new language.
It was a new beginning, in the end, she thought- I can make new friends, and learning English can't be that hard...
But only if she knew...
