I sat in the hospital bed staring at the doctor. He looked back at me with stone cold eyes as he uttered the words “You have 1 year to live.”
My heart dropped.
My stomach twisted.
My world collapsed.
This couldn’t be happening, no not to me. Why me?
“I’m sorry.” He muttered before leaving the room.
I looked at the wall a hundred thoughts rushing through my mind. I have one year to live. One year to live my dreams. What was my dream?
To meet One Direction.
I was probably one of their biggest fan. Yeah I had the tumblr and the twitter dedicated to them. They helped me through everything. And I mean everything.
When my mother passed away due to caner as well and when my father got drafted over seas leaving me to live with my grandmother.
She cared for me like I was her own child. She was my mother’s mum and she looked just like her and reminded me so much of her.
She sat beside me holding my hand her breath shaky.
“Ally love, it’s going to be okay.” She whispered to me caressing my pink cheek. My lon brown hair falling into my face.
“I know Nanny. I know it will be.” I said in a hushed tone. “Nanny before I die I want to meet my idols.” I said looking over at her. She tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and looked at me with love, determination and care in her eyes.
“And I promise you I will make that happen.” She smiled lightly at me.
And she did. That day changed my life forever. The day those 5 boys walked into my room. They flipped my life upside down. I didn’t only meet my idols but I met my 5 new best friends who were there every single day of that year.
I’m here to tell you the story of why the boys of One Direction refer to me as ‘Their Guardian Angel’ and how they helped me fight my battle with cancer.
