Icicle Jr. brushed a stray strand of Artemis' blonde hair behind her ear. Jade bit her lip and left the room, leaving her little sister and her sister's best friend alone.

Thank all the gods that her dad had given her to Cameron. He liked her; that was no secret. But he was respectful of her. Well, respective enough not to take advantage of her. He was a worse flirt than Wally had been.

Cam looked her over. "You're in a dress. Too bad it's your execution dress."

"No kidding. And stop staring at my lips."

"Sorry."

Artemis groaned. "You're not sorry."

Cam cracked a smile. "You're right. I'm not."

"Go ahead."

"What?"

Artemis rolled her eyes. "You can kiss me. Just a peck though. And just because it's your only chance. I have a boyfriend, this will mean nothing to me. I might as well make your little heart happy. But don't be gross, Cam."

Cameron leaned over and gave her a quick kiss.

Artemis wiped her lips off. "That was like kissing my brother."

Cam laughed and wrapped his arm around her in a platonic way. "It was kinda strange, wasn't it? Plus I'd put more lipstick on, or your sister will kill you herself."

Artemis laughed with him and put some on. She glanced at the alarm clock by the bed they were sitting on. It read 11:30 am. Thirty minutes until her execution. She subconsciously rubbed her neck.

"I doubt that you'll get beheaded. Probably shot, maybe a gash to your neck, but not beheaded. Most likely." Cam said, noticing the gesture.

"How reassuring."

"I do try."

A few minutes of silence went by. Artemis tried to clear her mind off the panic that she was feeling. But she didn't want to die. Not anymore. Not since she had befriended the team.

She wondered if Wally was alright. The League or the team would come looking for him, for sure. She hoped that he was safely out of the compound. Better her get hurt than him.

There was a knock at the door. "Yeah?" Cam yelled.

The door swung open, and there was Sportsmaster. "Hey Baby Girl. Time to go."

Cameron helped her to her feet. The duo walked over to Sportsmaster, who put a hand on his daughter's shoulder. "Come on. Let's get this over with. Your mother is going to have a breakdown when I tell her, and I'd like to get that out of the way as quickly as possible."

"Ba*****," Artemis growled.

Her father just laughed. "C'mon. Time to go." He dragged her out of the room, Cameron at their heels. The finally arrived in a sizable room. The only people there were Ra's al Ghul and Jade, who looked down the second that she saw her sister. Wally was nowhere to be seen.

"If you're looking for your speedster friend, he's long gone. Left his cell about three hours ago. Then he and his little friends took of back on home," Sportsmaster growled.

"Good," Artemis said. She meant it. Sure, she wished Wally was there for her, but at least he was safe. That's all she really wanted anyway.

Sportsmaster walked up to Jade and snatched a sword from her. He placed it against Artemis' neck. The cold blade rested against her skin. She shut her eyes, ducking her head, mentally preparing herself.

The sword cut into her skin, drawing blood, then pulled away. Artemis heard a clang as her father dropped it to the floor. She could hear his footsteps move towards the table with a gun resting on it.

"Wait," Ra's voice cut sharply through the air. "She's a traitor of severe proportions. I will handle her myself."

Artemis was shocked. Al Ghul rarely handled an execution himself. She was sort of honored, actually.

"Do you, Artemis Lian Crock, admit to betraying the Shadows and the Light?"

"H*** yeah, I do," Artemis said loudly.

"If I were to offer you another chance to serve the Light and turn your back on these so-called heroes, would you accept it?

"I'd sooner rot in hell."

"Well, then you don't have to wait long."

Panic briefly flooded Artemis. 'WALLY! I need you! I need you! Help me! Please!" There would have to be a miracle for Wally to show up. She was alone. She knew it. She squeezed her eyes even tighter shut, waiting for the final blow.
