They reached the Oberoi mansion at almost midnight.
Omkara, Gauri, Nani and her team left the village, as soon as Gauri was able to travel, though the villagers insisted that they stay longer. Omkara and Gauri didn't get a chance to talk privately, since they were traveling in a group.
"You came all the way to the village, to take me back?" whispered Gauri, as others were trying to catch a nap in the van.
"Well, I had hoped it would be a little more grand than this, but my wife falling into my arms is quite literally the fairytale" remarked Omkara.
Gauri giggled softly.
Once they entered the mansion, Om whispered, "I guess everyone is asleep."
"But of course" said Gauri. But before she could reach down for her little travel bag, it went farther away from her reach.
"Omkaraji, what are you doing?" asked Gauri, astonished, as Omkara lifted her in his arms.
"Why, going to our room of course? You can't go up the stairs, in this state. You already fainted in the morning, and journeyed from Kolhapur to Mumbai, without recovering properly. I'm taking no more risks" said Omkara, as he surreptitiously nodded at the servant who opened the door to receive them, to take their stuff upstairs.
He laid down Gauri on the bed gently, and shut the door after the staff member left.
"Omkaraji, about our argument the other day, I'm so..." but Omkara cut her off.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow, its midnight now. You didn't catch a wink of sleep in the car" said Omkara
"Neither did you" replied Gauri.
"Then we must rest now" said Omkara, taking off his shoes, and lying down next to her.
Neither of them bothered to change into nightclothes; they were so exhausted.
Gauri was uncertain, would Omkaraji welcome her like before, considering their spat?
But Omkara opened his arms to her like always. Gauri smiled, and enveloped herself in his warmth.
"I think, after a week, I'll finally be able to sleep today" she murmured.
"Same" said Omkara, and placed a gentle kiss on top of her head.
Gauri smiled and so did he, as he placed his chin on top of head and drifted into a blissful sleep, after days.
They were home.
*******************************************
Omkara woke up to see his wife breathing softly, curled up in the circle of his arms.
Usually, she would wake up before him, and leave to get ready for prayers. He could always sense when she was awake, but he would keep his eyes shut, so that she thought she didn't disturb his sleep.
Today, however, he wasn't going to pretend. He had missed her, though it was only seven days. He drank the sight of her peaceful sleep. He wished that he could capture it, right now. Never mind, he would commit this sight to his memory and express it on his canvas later. Along with the several other finished and unfinished paintings he had of her.
"Its a little creepy, you know, staring at a girl like this, without blinking" mumbled Gauri, without opening her eyes.
She could sense when he was awake, as well.
