Back From Hunting

I just got back from a hunt today with Laelap. I swear that dog is undefeated. She can sniff out any animal within miles and chase it down without exhaustion. Mom got in contact with me again through my head when I was walking back to the cabin. I keep telling her I don't like that because it's an invasion of privacy and it gives me a headache right after. Anyway, she told me that she was going to visit me tomorrow in person and said she'd teach me a few tricks with the bow and arrow. I'm planning on testing out my patience skills also when she gets here. I want her to blindfold me and then for her to go at a 500-yard distance and to whistle once so that I can shoot an arrow straight at the bullseye she'll be holding. Plus, if the arrow hits her it wouldn't hurt her because she's immortal and won't be able to feel the pain through a mortal arrow. Ever since my mom told me that I was demigod when I was five, I like to indulge myself in human stuff but I also like to use my god-like powers with it.
Growing up was difficult living in a cabin in Foloi Oak Forest alone, Well, I wasn't entirely alone. My mother would visit me at home and teach me to talk and all that basic stuff. But, she wasn't around 24/7 like a regular mother. Because she had her duties on Mount Olympus, she had to instruct Amposa, a woman centaur that lives in Foloi Oak with other centaurs to care for me. Amposa was like a second mother to me. But, once I grew to the age of fifteen, Mother realized that I didn't need a guardian all the time anymore. She wanted me to start to take care of myself and learn responsibility. At first, I was mad and angry at her. I didn't want to see her for a whole year. A whole year of not seeing my mother was torture for me, but it also helped me understand the true meaning of survival. By seventeen, I could run as fast as an ostrich and smell an animal a mile away. This was only able to happen of course because I'm part god. I had to train myself to make these attributes better. By nineteen, the age I am now, I can shoot arrows that can go as far as miles and hit its bullseye and I can smell for miles and almost never run out of breath from running at the speed of 75 mph.
Like I said, being a demigod can be great, but also lonely. Growing up in a cabin in the woods and not having a normal parent to take you out to visit people and make friends can be depressing. That's why I hunt. It keeps me busy and going so that I don't have to think about people. Plus, I have Laelap. She was a gift from Mother to help me with hunts and to give me company. Laelaps are special kinds of dogs that can never fail to catch what they are hunting. I was the one that had to train her though. Swoosh. I hear the sound of a wind breezing through leaves but I know better. My mother is here. I call Laelap to my side because Mother always enjoys seeing her, and I open the wooden door to the cabin.
"Rostris!", Mother calls out to me. "I've missed you so much!".
"Mom, it's only been a week. Plus, you know, you do the occasional mind talking to me whenever you feel like it".
"Well if you're going to say that with an attitude then you might as well tell me what's on your mind?"
"Mom, when you do that mind head thing, it gives me headaches and it's an invasion of privacy. I do enjoy you wanting to hang out with me and train me, but Mom! It's the 21st century. I'm sure phones work in Mount Olympus."
"Well, why haven't you told me this before. You know I would never want to hurt you. And you also usually speak whatever's on your mind."
Artemis looks at Rostris like she's wounded an innocent animal.
"Well..., I didn't want to hurt your feelings Mom."
Rostris looks down at the ground shamefully wishing the moment would be over soon.
"Ok. I'll keep that in mind, Rostris And it's really fine. You let me know how you feel about anything. Ok? Let's start with your training because I know you were looking forward to that."
