Lakira's Pov-
Around 1am I woke up and looked at Joey. He was sound asleep next to me. I gently moved his arms off of me and got up as quietly as I could. I put my slides on and grabbed my bag. I opened his windowed and climbed out on to the vines. He moved which scared me so I fell.Lakira: Shit!
I tried to muffled my groans in pain. After gathering myself I got up and started walking to the meeting place. It was only about 2 miles from my house. It would take me a hot minute getting there but I don't have to get there until 3 so I should be okay.
An hour goes by and I finally get there. Normal trade off. I show the product, they show the money, and so on. What happens next is what I wasn't expecting. Reggie pulled out my fake cousin
Lakira: Aye bruh. What y'all doin wit ha? Kesha come here.
Reggie started laughing at me
Reggie: Mane you was late wit our shit. This what we do when y'all n*ggas late
He pulled out his strap and held it up to her head. I froze
Lakira: Chill out. Don't do it mane. She's just a kid
Reggie: She gon be fine. Just fineKesha was cryin which broke my heart
Lakira: Please just don't. I won't be late I promise
Reggie: C-baby gon do these runs now. But just to remind you that we don't play-Everythin went quiet. Kesha dropped to the ground. Reggie walked away wit everyone else. I ran to Kesha and dropped to my knees. I cried holding her in my chest. After a second I felt arms wrap around me. They were warm and the feeling was familiar to me.Of course it was Joey. I didn't even think to question why he was there. All I knew was that I needed him. I looked him straight in his eyes still crying. I set Kesha down gently and turned around to hug Joey. He picked me up and held me by my thighs. I cried into his neck mumbling how it was my fault. He whispered trying to calm me down.
Joey: It's not your fault. There wasn't anything you could do
Lakira: She was 9 Joey! I should've done something! She's dead because of me
Joey: Babygirl this isn't because of you so don't beat yourself up for itJoey carried me to his car. Before I got in I looked at him. I don't know what I was thinking or if I was at all but I kissed him.
