Pencil stood at her locker, making sure her hair was okay at the mirror in her locker. Her best friend, Match, came up behind her.
"You look as good as always, Pence-Pence. Let's, like, head to homeroom." she said.
"Aw, thanks, Match." Pencil replied, flashing Match a smile as she grabbed her lock.
But before Pencil could shut her locker, their friends Bubble and Ruby came running up to them.
"Have you guys heard about the assembly?" Bubble asked.
"The what?" Pencil asked.
"Assembly! We don't know what it's about, that's why we're asking." Ruby replied.
"Well, we haven't, like, heard about it." Match said.
"Oh well. Guess we'll find out soon enough." Bubble said, before running off with Ruby. They approached Flower, probably to ask her the same question.
"Wonder what we're having an assembly about?" Pencil asked after they had left.
"Like, I don't know. It's probably not good though." Match replied.
They shrugged before walking off to homeroom and sitting next to each other in the far back. Most of their homeroom was already there, only missing Ruby, Bubble, and Flower. Fanny sat in the corner, her hood pulled up over her head, and Snowball and Lightning were chatting. Snowball didn't seem very interested, instead texting on his phone, which he was hiding from Lightning.
Their teacher was already there, as always. He always showed up very early. He looked really young, but he was, in fact, in his mid 20s. He had strange, bright yellow skin, and his messy hair was pulled back into 4 pigtails. He referred to himself as just X.
X taught art and music. He was very free-spirited and creative, and he always encouraged his students to follow their passions and to do what they were comfortable with. He didn't take very kindly to insults or criticisms, but that rarely happened as he was a friendly, kind guy with a big heart. Maybe even too big a heart, because he was very emotional and prone to nervous breakdowns or even crying during classes.
His classroom was messy and bright. Paint splattered the walls, paper was all over the floor, and a large mural covered the ceiling.
There was another teacher in the room, too- X's best friend (and maybe more than that, as the kids speculated). They chatted for a while before the visiting teacher left to attend to his own classroom.
Just as he left, Ruby, Bubble, and Flower came through the door and took their seats.
"Hi, guys!" X smiled at all the students.
"Hello, X," everyone replied.
"Um, hey, X?" Flower asked, looking up at him and raising her hand slightly. "Do we have an assembly today?"
"Oh! Um, yes! But I can't tell you what it's about yet!" X declared. "It's a secret."
"Dang," Flower muttered under her breath.
"Guess we'll just have to wait and see!" Ruby told her.

"So, these are the blueprints I came up with. What do you think?"
"I like it!"
"Come on, give me something constructive! You always say that."
"Well, I guess the design could be less... clunky. Is there any way you could slim it down a little?"
"Hm... I guess so. Thanks for the advice. You should come to my house after school so we can begin working on it."
"Sure, I'd be happy to! As long as we can study for the chemistry test, too. And, it's a bad habit to chew on your pencil like that, GB. You're gonna make yourself sick."
