Chapter One

Rydel's POV

She woke up to the smell of French toast in the air. She smiled to herself.

The smile quickly disappeared when she saw the time.

It was 10:30. Almost three hours longer than she normally slept.

She jumped up, slipping her arms through the sleeves of a pink cardigan, and ran down the stairs.

She saw her dad sitting in the living room, reading that days paper.

She followed the scent into the kitchen where she was greeted by four big smiles.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"

Suddenly she was bombarded with hugs.

The arms of her four brothers surrounded her. She laughed, and wrapped her arms around the nearest body she could find.

When they finally pulled away, she couldn't believe what she saw.

A big, fancy breakfast had been set on the kitchen table, all made by her brothers. A streamer hung from the ceiling that read 'Happy Birthday Rydel'.

"These are for you Delly" her youngest brother Ryland said as he handed her a bouquet of pink roses. She felt so touched.

She had completely forgotten about her birthday.

They had been so busy with playing venues and writing new songs, that she had forgotten all about her 20th birthday.

But her brothers didn't. By the looks of things, they had been planning her birthday surprise for weeks.

"Did you guys do all this?" She asked, staring in awe at the room before her.

"Yea we did" Rocky smiled, handing her a cup of orange juice.

"It was Riker's idea" Ross added, putting the French toast on a plate.

She looked at her big brother. He had his arms folded across his chest. He smiled at her, winking out of his left eye. She put the flowers down on the counter, and walked towards him.

He hugged her in his strong arms until she pulled away.

"Thank you" she whispered to him.

He smiled at her, "Nothing less than the best for our only sister. Now sit down, it's time for breakfast"

She sat in her usual spot in between Ryland and Riker with Ross and Rocky sat across from them. Her parents joined them, taking their seats at the heads of the table.

They all joined hands as they thanked God for keeping them safe for yet another day.

She couldn't help but smile at how amazing her life was. She had an amazing family; four loving, caring brothers, and a best friend that meant the world to her.

She had everything she ever wanted. Too bad it wasn't there to stay.
