The SUV came to a halt in the middle of nowhere
'Make any sound and I'll kill you', said the driver, fondling his gun.

Breathe

Just fucking breathe

She kept chanting to herself as she watched the driver leave the car to answer the call of nature. This was her best chance of escape - when it was still dark. She managed to undo one knots along the way. She twisted her fingers to undo the final knot and rubbed her bruised wrists.

She opened the door stealthily and sneaked into the woods. If her captor thought a mere handgun could make her docile he was sorely mistaken.

'i'm made of stronger stuffs' she tried to assure herself but couldn't fight back the fear that kept creeping up her spine. She had no idea where she was but her only aim was to be as far as possible from her captor. Hearing the man's angry yells, she sprinted off. She could hear the man hit on her trail but she kept running, fear clogging her throat and making breathing a tedious task.

Suddenly, she stumbled and fell, biting her lips in pain. Her knees and elbows were severely grazed for sure. The man's flashlight Shone in her direction. If she ran the man would definitely see her; so she hid herself in an underbrush, watching the man run past, swearing.

                                                *  *  *  *
The sun was already out by the time she woke. She was hungry and thirsty. Last thing she ate was a sandwich the previous evening. She looked around for the man but he was nowhere in sight, meaning he had stopped looking for her - which was very unlikely or he was waiting in hiding for her to show up. It might take the entire day for her to get back to civilization but it was worth it. She kept her pace, occasionally glancing behind her. She finally emerged from the woods and tried to increase her pace as she walked, limped actually along the side of the road. She tried to think about her ordeal with the faceless man but couldn't think straight. Her lips began to quiver uncontrollably.

'I just want to be with my family, all because I overhead a-' A hand clasped over her mouth.

'you're mine' said her captor, in mad glee.

Hell! Where in blazes did he appear from? She was panting now and her ribs were starting to hurt. With all the fury in her, she dug her elbow in his gut. He groaned in pain and his arm involuntarily left her. Before he could recover, she turned and kneed him in the groin and made her escape again into the woods where she had better chances of evading him. She kept running until she came to a dead end- a cliff. Before she could decide whether she could jump or not, a bullet buried itself in her shoulder. She cried out, her shirt instantly wet with her blood. She turned around slowly and shaky to see the man pointing his gun at her forehead.

'I never miss',  he said coldly

'Did they...did they order you to do this? She asked, trying to stem the bleeding and wheezing through the pain

'New orders, yes'

'i'm sorry I overheard what I wasn't supposed to, I wouldn't say a word to anyone... I'm only fifteen'

'you're a threat and I've been asked to eliminate you...this will serve as a warning not to poke your nose in dangerous business in your next life'.

She gulped. She had to something, anything. 'you wouldn't kill an innocent girl in cold blood'

He smirked. 'That, my dear is why I was hired'

She refused to feel helpless. She would rather jump off the cliff. She was dizzy now.

She sighed 'you won't get to spend whatever you've been paid to kill me if you don't kill that copper head behind you'

It was an old trick and surprisingly, it worked. In the split second that the man turned she made towards the edge of the cliff.

'Damn you girl', the man growled and shot her before her second foot left the cliff

She felt the excruciating pain of another bullet piercing her back. Last thing she saw before losing consciousness was the water surface drawing ominously nearer.
