EPISODE 7: Teaching an Ol' Pokémon New Tricks!

Kari and her team have arrived on Route 18 to take a break. Kari is typing on her laptop while her team is running around playing, now with their bellies full. Eevee and Jolteon are sitting together, laughing at Monferno as he shows off his new powers.

Sunflora claps her leaves together as he flexes. Machoke steps forward, butting heads with the smaller Monferno. The two battle it out! Flexing and flexing until their faces turn red! Eevee rolls onto his back, he's laughing so hard. Kadabra, who had been meditating under a nearby tree, opens an eye. He looks over, annoyed with all the noise. As Monferno and Machoke continue their challenge, Kadabra uses his powers. A heavy bubble of water goes floating by without anyone noticing, aided by Kadabra's psychic powers.

Jolteon nudges Eevee, pointing at the giant bubble that's now over Monferno's and Machoke's head. Kadabra snaps his fingers and the bubble bursts! The two are drenched..! A spray of water splashes over the others. Now it's Kadabra that's laughing hysterically. Monferno and Machoke give him dirty looks. The three of them start arguing.

Kari sighs, "Seriously? It is way too early for this." She snaps her laptop shut. She sets it aside, standing and walking towards the commotion. As she looks at the sopping wet duo, she tries not to laugh. Kari has no idea what had happened, but she might know how to remedy the situation. She looks down the road towards the city.

They were just in the outskirts of Fuchsia City now, only about half a day's walk from there. They had passed several Trainers along the way who were interested in battling. She knew this was the perfect opportunity to get some Training in before challenging the Frontier Brains. She scanned the road. She had remembered seeing them when she was putting their breakfast together.

"A-ha! Perfect." She winked at Eevee and the others, "Give me just a minute." She waved, "Make sure they don't try killing each until I get back!" Eevee saluted her as she ran off towards the cart. She knew her Pokémon better than anyone and she also knew the perfect thing to settle them down. She returned only a few minutes later with her arms full, "Who wants some ice cream??"

They all stopped what they were doing and turned to look. Kadabra had floated the other two with his psychic powers, while Machoke held Monferno upside down by the tail and Monferno had clamped his teeth tightly to Machoke's leg. But at the sound of Kari's voice, they froze. Kadabra released his powers and they all dropped. He ran to join Eevee, Jolteon, and Sunflora who had gathered around Kari. The other two looked once more at each other, glaring, then ran off to collect their dessert.

The family sat together, licking away at their sweets. Kari smiled at them all. They all looked so happy. Monferno and Machoke were even getting along now. She bit down on the stick in her hand as she reached for her Pokédex. She was always keeping track of her Pokémon's progress as they got stronger. Monferno had evolved just a few days ago and when she checked his information with Dex, she was happy to see that he had also learned a brand new move.

This was common for a Pokémon when they evolved, but she still wondered about the strange science behind it all. And what about the Pokémon's capability to learn moves just by Training. That's what Kari always did with her team before a big competition. It was a lot of hard work, but it was always worth it in the end.

Kari looked up as Eevee was trying to lick the ice cream from the tip of his nose. She shook her head at him- how could one little Pokémon make such a mess..? But Kari also wondered... Could she teach Eevee a brand new move..?

Her eyes passed over each of her team. For years, now, Kari had done her best to be fair in their Training. She and Eevee had been together since she was a little girl. They were always playing and Training back then, and that meant he was the toughest of her entire team, especially after all the work they put into Training at the Team Rocket Headquarters. In order to help the rest of her Pokémon, though, she and Eevee tried to give them a chance. She knew that Eevee could stand up to almost any challenge. It was only fair to let the others take the spotlight, become stronger, and Train... But that meant Eevee was always left in the background... And that wasn't right.
