After a whole night of, jokes, pillow forts and puking my guts out while Steve holds my hair back for me, I guess you can say him and had grown closer. Not romantically but friendship wise. He's really nice and understanding even though he can be a tad bit stubborn at times.
He actually ended up taking me back to the house where the party was so that we could bring my car back to my house.
When I wake up the next day, I find that he's not on the couch anymore. I walk to the kitchen to drink some water then realize a note on my fridge door.
'Sorry for leaving unannounced. I usually wake up 3 hours before school cause I have a very specific hair routine. :D but it was nice to vent to you. See you at school'
- S.HWhen I step out of my car and onto the school parking lot, it feels different. And no I don't mean the weather. I walk to the school doors, naturally dreading walking in because of all the disapproving looks I get on a daily. I pull the door open and walk through. When I strut down the hallway, I don't get disapproving stares, I get greetings. People are actually saying hi to me. Actually acknowledging the fact that I exist. It feels amazing.
I walk to my locker and unlock it, putting all my shit in there and grabbing the things I actually need as I hum and softly sing Another One Bites the Dust by Queen. As I close my locker, I get a face full of Billy and half a heart attack.
"Holy shit, creeper!" I shout in annoyance. I slam my locker shut and face him. "What do you..."
"How'd you do that?" He interrupts. I give him a confused look and shake my head.
"Do what, Billy? Sing the rift in Another One Bites the Dust perfectly?" I ask as I start to walk towards my class.
"You know what I'm talking about, One." He says angrily.
"Nope. I'm not understanding." I say without looking at him.
"At the party. We were talking and then my head started hurting out of no where. How'd you do it?" He asks and I stop in my tracks. I whip myself around and look him directly in the eyes.
"I didn't do anything. You were drunk and your hangover hit you a bit too early. Now leave me alone." I walk into my class room and sink down in my chair. I nervously bite this inside of my right cheek.Half a school day later, the dismissal bell rings which means it's lunch time and I'm not in any rush to go eat so I just stay behind and do more work. Get my homework out of the way so I have more time to watch Grease. Everyone, including my teacher Mrs. VcLorein, left the room and it's just me. To pass time a little fast, I play music in my Walkman.
As I'm listening to music and doing my homework, I feel my right headphone lift from my ear. Automatically I assume it's Steve because he's probably the only one, since yesterday, who'd have the balls to interrupt my music time, but then I don't hear Steve's voice. It's Billy's voice.
"I can help you with that." He speaks softly into me ear as he runs his finger tips gently down the back of my neck. The double sensation sent chills down my spine. I jolt up from my chair and step back.
"What are you doing?" I ask frantically. He smiles with his teeth then sits down in my chair. He picks up my pencil then lightly taps it against the table. He looks back to me and gives me a seductive smirk.
"Come here." He says with a smile. I take in the site in front of me then shake my head.
"No. What do you want?" I ask with a more demanding voice. He looks at me with playful disappointment. He stands up from the desk and pushes in the chair before slowly walking towards me. I back up with every step he takes forward. I look into his eyes and he looks into mine. Right now, I'm not feeling angry. I'm feeling nervous. He backs me up into a wall and gently runs the back of his hand down my left cheek then taps my nose with his finger. I let out a shaky breath and he chuckles. He puts his lips next to my ear and whispers, "You think I'm gonna hurt you?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because even though you're a grade A asshole, you'd never hit a girl." I say back. He smiles at me then nods.
"Good. Then relax." He says into my ear. He looks me in the eyes once again. "I just wanna talk." He says with a rasp.
He pulls himself away from me and turns his back to walk back to my desk. I let out a heavy but quiet breath then peel myself of the wall.
"What do you want to talk about?" I ask. I'm trying so hard not to show him that his presence has an affect on me.
He turns to me the puts his hands in his jean pockets.
"I'm just confused."
"On..." I trail off and sit down at a random desk that's far from my own.
"You drive me insane, One." What did he just say? "I don't know why, it's just... something... about you. It draws me in." He walks up to me yet again, on the opposite side of the desk and places his hands down on it. I look up into his eyes again. He leans forward and looks me in the eyes as well.
"I know what you're doing." I say with no emotion.
"Oh yeah? And what's that?" He asks deeply.
"You're Billy Hargrove. When you want something, you'll do anything to get it."
"And what do I want from you?"
"You want me to tell you what happened last night." I sass.
"Then tell me...clever girl," He says while holding my chin in his hands. He pulls my lips closer to his. They are so close but not close enough to touch. "Why aren't you stopping me?" He says breathlessly. My mind goes foggy. I let his hormones and sex appeal get in my head. And to be honest, why aren't I stopping him? Usually my fight back instinct would be kicking in by now but for some odd reason, it isn't. If I'm being honest, I'm a bit ashamed. I'm not downing other women for being sexually attracted to Billy. I'd never degrade another woman, but I've never been the type to let my sexual tension cloud my judgment. And when I say never, I mean NEVER.
Billy is about to bring our lips together and I'm gonna let him do it, until...
"One?" I hear Steve say from the classroom door. I look over to Steve and back at Billy. Billy isn't too happy. Billy let's go of my chin.
"You okay?" Steve asks and I nod quickly and aggressively.
"Yes! Yeah I'm great. Billy was just leaving." I say while throwing Billy a death glare. Billy looks at me dumbfounded and shakes his head.
"No I wasn't." Billy fights back then looks at Steve. "So what's up Steve? You leave Nancy Drew for number uno?" Billy walks up to Steve and gets in his face. "I didn't think you had it in you." Billy aggressively shoulder buds Steve and walks out the door.
"I'm gonna kill him." Steve says and start to walk towards the door but I stop him.
"No. He's not worth it. Don't give him the time of day." I warn. "So what's up?" I ask him in attempt to change the subject. He sighs heavily and plops down in the chair next to me.
"Nancy and I got into another fight." He says and I continue to listen to him vent about it.
I don't understand why I didn't fight Billy and his boyish charms. Any other day, it would have been no problem. I've had boys and sometimes girls flirt with me and no matter how cool or attractive they were, I've always been able to say no. Why couldn't I say no to him? Maybe he knows? But how? I haven't given him any reason to think I can do what I do. And there's no way that his pea sized brain just hypothesized the idea. Or could it?
