December rolled by fairly steadily, and the weather wasn't exactly welcoming. It made Willa miserable, and she rarely visited her study spot due to the cold.
The hype of the Triwizard Tournament had seemed to die down ever since the first task ended and Willa was pleased about this, although the Hufflepuff common room was always buzzing with excitement.
It was because of Cedric, obviously.
She hadn't seen much of him lately, he'd been spending most of his time with Cho...his girlfriend.
Willa hated that she felt so jealous towards Cho, but she couldn't help it. It didn't bother her that he had a girlfriend - well, it did really - but she simply just missed hanging out with her best friend. Instead, she tagged along with the Weasley twins or travelled between classes alone; usually the latter, because the twins weren't exactly the easiest to tolerate after a while.
Willa had also been spending a lot of her time after dinner in the common room studying and doing homework, or in the library until Madam Pince threatened to give her detention for being in there so late. And add on the fact - to make matters worse - one day before Herbology ended, Professor Sprout had informed the class about the Yule Ball that was to be taking place on Christmas night.
"You will be expected to still be on your best behaviour, however, you are also to be expected to have fun. It is a dance after all!" Professor Sprout grinned.
Willa's first choice on who to go with normally would've been Cedric but since he and Cho were a thing now, she didn't have clue on who to ask. And as the end of term arrived, Willa still had no clue on who to ask to the ball.
At first, she felt a little insecure that nobody had asked her and she wondered why she had to put herself through the anxiety of finding a date, but eventually settled on the idea that she wasn't going to get one in time and decided on not going.

Saturday morning was a bleak one. Willa was glad the term was over, so she didn't have to rush off anywhere and sacrifice the warmth of the common room.
She walked to breakfast, a piece of parchment, a bottle of ink and her quill in hand, and sat down at the Hufflepuff table. She hadn't written to Tonks in a while, and figured now was the best time to do it.
Tonks,
Sorry I haven't written much, this term has been an eventful one. But it's over now so I'm finally able to write.
The Triwizard Tournament has been so exciting to watch. Cedric and Harry Potter are the champions for Hogwarts - someone put Harry's name in but nobody knows who. At first, people didn't believe him, and I think some people still don't. There was a lot of bullying towards him going on and I felt bad, but after his performance in the first task, everyone seems alright again. Ced did amazing as I knew he would.
