The man opened the car door and stepped out into the crisp autumn air.
Taking a deep breath, he turned, started towards the dark oak door and proceeded to knock sharply on the door three times. The middle-aged woman who answered the door stooped into a deep bow the moment she saw him.
"Alpha."
The man walked past her with no acknowledgments, as if he owned the place.
And he practically did.
Josh Stone, Alpha of the New Moon pack was feared by all and there was good reason behind it. He was rich and powerful, and had a reputation for wiping out three enemy packs by the time he was 17. That was 9 years ago, just 4 years after he became Alpha. But he was fair and just to the members of his pack. Though they were still slightly afraid of him.
He was here on business. A pup had just been born and he was here to welcome and bind it to the pack. He just wanted to get this over and done with.
The woman who opened the door led him into a living room with a small crib in it. As he walked over he felt a weird tingling sensation in his stomach.
It all made sense when he lay his eyes on the young she-wolf asleep inside the crib.
"Mate."
