Just a few hours before the fighting was expected to start, Val met with Peter at the top of the cathedral. She knew he felt bad after Fury's lecture. And she, too, felt bad for feeding Fury with the information that he nearly killed all of his friends. "Hey." Val took a seat next to Peter at the top of the building. His legs were dangling off the edge and it make Val's stomach drop at the sight of it, but she knew if she were to fall, for any reason, Peter would catch her.

"Hey." Peter smiled small at her. She laid her head on his shoulder and wrapped her hands around his bicep, holding on to him mostly for security. "I'm sorry for telling Fury about the drone strike." Val forced out an apology, in hopes that it would make him feel better.

"Really?" Peter asked her, suspiciously.

"You got me. It was a hilarious story— since no one got hurt— okay?" Val chuckled unapologetically.

"I didn't think we'd have the save the world this summer. I know that makes me sound like such a jerk, I just— I had this plan." Peter admitted to Val.

Val lifted her head to look at Peter, curious about this plan of his. "A plan?"

"With this girl I really like and now... it's all ruined. I wanted to take her to the top of the Eiffel Tower and give her a promise ring." Peter felt more comfortable telling Val his plan if he spoke to her like she wasn't there. His face was faced toward the lively city, not daring to take a glance at Val's facial expression. Val's heart began to beat quicker once she realized he had been steering clear of all superhero stuff for her. So that his plan for her wouldn't be ruined. Yet, it ended up being destroyed anyway.

"You really like her, huh?" Val asked him, her eyes were watering up and she began to anxiously fumble her fingers.

"I love her." Peter turned to finally look at Val. He pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it up for her to see. It was a cute little gold ring. Val's stomach filled with butterflies. It was a wonderful feeling. And she never wanted it to stop. Val placed her soft hands against his cool cheeks and placed a sweet kiss on his lips. Peter, obviously, accepted the surprise and placed one of his own hands at her jaw. When the parted, Val's eyes lit up and she smiled kindly at him. She took the ring from the box and place it on her finger. She watched it glimmer in the moonlight for a moment. "I love you, too, Peter." She told him. He beamed at her. It was their first time admitting such a committing emotion to one another. And the ring only solidified that commitment.

"We should go back to the— the, um, hotel. Before anyone notices were gone." Peter spat out, he didn't know how to handle the emotions running through him after Valdís told him that she loved him. He wanted to scream, cheer and jump all at once. His heart was beating so fast and his stomach was doing flips. Of course, Val was feeling the same way, but she was much better at concealing her emotions. "Yeah, yeah, you're right." Val replied to him.

Back in the hotel lobby, all their other classmates were dressed properly to go out that evening to the carnival. Glow sticks were turned into accessories for all the students. But, once their teacher arrived to take them out for the evening, bad news struck them. "Good news, we're going to the opera!" He announced. Everyone grumbled.

Ned looked over at Peter. Peter shot him a look telling him that it was a necessary move so that no one would get hurt during the fight. The change of plans seemed to be by Peter's doing, in Val's perspective, and she thought it was a great idea. It would keep their classmates inside for a few hours until the whole situation blew over. "Well I think this is going to be culturally enriching for us!" Ned tried to sway his classmates' opinions about the opera so that they wouldn't change up the plans on their own and potentially get themselves killed.

"Thank you, Ned! Everyone, this is going to be— maybe— the best four hours of our trip." Mr. Harrington only worsened the situation.

"Four hours?!" The crowd of students shouted in unison.

"Guys! I think this is going to be really fun, seriously!" Ned tried to mend the hard feelings. But it was no use.

The group then set off to walk to the nearby theatre to go to the opera. On the way there, Peter and Val began to hear Maria Hill speak into the earpieces they already equipped. "Parker, Stinson, do you copy?" Maria was simply testing out the comms to see if they could hear properly. The two mumbled a confirmation in return so low that no one around them could hear.

At the theatre, everyone took their seats at the very front of the very empty theatre. No one was going to watch the opera during the carnival. It was a horrible idea when there was so much fun going on in the streets. "Are you in position?" Fury inquired into the comms.

"Nope." Val and Peter responded simultaneously.

"Why the hell not?"
"We're coming, damn Fury."
"You sound like your mother."
"If I had a quarter for every time—"
"Just get over here, Miss Stinson!"

Val groaned, then sighed and got up to leave. Peter followed quietly behind her.
