A burst of laughter escaped my mouth as I ran through the dark alley way. Police lights flashed wildly, reflecting off the wet pavement. The sound of sirens echoed through the sleeping town.
"Where do we go?" Ty yelled, running swiftly alongside me through the night. We whooped and hollered while jumping over trash bins and boxes with our hands, and swinging off from staircase balconies above.
"Let's have a little fun," I told him, grinning devilishly. I waved my hand to beckon him to follow me. We ran into a dead end that was blocked by a massive brick wall. Three police officers all pretty badly out of shape had come running after us. They stopped and held their guns pointed in our direction. They were all still panting from the sprint we had put them up with.
"Hands in the air!" one of the chubbier ones said. I grinned at Ty and gave a slight nod of my head. He grinned back at me.
"We surrender!" I shouted across the alley to the officers. Me and Ty both put our hands up in mock surrender, putting our most innocent faces on.
"We're going to handcuff you now," another officer said. "Do not move." The three hesitantly made their way towards us, guns still at the ready. When they were less than 10 feet away, I felt my body shrink and my arms elongate, my feet curling into talons. My vision intensified, letting me see infared, and I smirked as I saw the police's stunned and terrified expressions. I pushed my arms down and felt myself lift into the air. I flew right over their heads, grazing the one in the middle's head with my clawed toes, knocking his hat right off. They didn't even use their weapons to shoot me down. They just stood there, gaping up at me, completely dumbfounded.
I soared in circles overhead and swooped back down at top speed, heading vertically at the asphalt. Standing where Ty had been was a light-colored animal on all fours. It bended its front legs down, as if getting ready to jump. I pulled up just before I was about to hit the ground, followed by a weight settling on my back. Ty had leapt onboard and we made our brilliant escape, riding up and over the tall buildings. The low, misty clouds hid us, only the moon's luminescence revealing our shapes.
I was giant bald eagle, and Ty was a grey wolf.
