I woke up the next morning, in a groggy daze as per usual. I hated mornings. I brought the covers off from over my head and squinted my eyes at the sunlight peeking through my windows. I felt a bundle of warmth resting by my foot, I glanced down to see my cat Tito bundled up at the end of my bed. The air was crisp and smelled like greenery, not surprising given the Hufflepuff dormitories were covered in potted plants. The sun was high and bright, forcing me to cover my green eyes.

What time is it?

I finally found it in myself to get up and slipped my Def Leppard socks onto my feet, when I looked up it was then I noticed that all of the beds were empty, made nicely and no one was in sight.

I looked up above the common room fireplace at the clock. It was 9:23, I was almost an hour late for my Potions class. It was my first day of classes and I was late, I can't believe I let myself sleep in that late, why didn't anyone wake me up?
I buttoned my shirt, zipped my skirt and threw on my robes. I flung the doors open and began racing through the hallways, Tito following at my feet. I was too worried about getting to class, I didn't even mind him coming to class with me even if animals aren't allowed in Potions. Once I reached the giant chamber doors I realized there was no way I would be able to sneak in without the Professor noticing. Especially Professor Snape. I took a deep breath and pushed the doors open with a loud creaking sound. I heard the class go silent and every student turned on their stools to look at me. I could feel my cheeks go hot and my face turning bright red.

"Ahem...Mrs. Townsend...and friends" Professor Snape said as he came into sight from behind his desk, looking at Tito in disgust who was passing between my dirty converse. "What a pleasure." His voice dragged out monotonely. Some of the slytherins snickered at me with squinted eyes. My face turned an even deeper shade of red and I muttered a quiet "sorry" and sat down at an empty table. "First day of lessons and you're almost an hour late...ten points from Hufflepuff and see me at 8 for detention. Don't be late again." Snape sneered im his eerily even tone. "Yes sir" I muttered again.

I looked down at my parchment as I was writing notes down, face still red and hot. Everyone in my house must hate me now I thought, And I have to spend MORE time with Snape, I huffed and looked over at Tito who was curled at my feet. I would have to be alone with Snape for however long he pleased, I was dreading it. I rolled my feather around in my fingers and felt someone watching me. I glanced up and locked eyes with that Slytherin girl again; Sofia. She quickly looked away from me and back at Snape.

I mean, my feelings weren't hurt but I just thought we were cool. But she was a Slytherin, what did I expect. As class came to an end I quickly packed my things and headed to the grand chamber doors. "Eight o'clock Townsend." Snape spat after me. I looked down and pushed the massive door open with a groan, Tito slipping out ahead of me.
