Chapter 9: Yep, I Punched Him

The next few days were cold and bleak. I had promised to stop liking Roryn, but it just made me miserable. He seemed concerned, but that just made it worse. One day he caught up to me in the hallway. He spran after me.

"Lily! Please, tell me what's wrong!"

"I can't!"

"Don't you trust me?" The question stopped me in my tracks. I wanted to say, yes with my life.

"I just can't tell you okay?" Roryn grabbed my shoulders and made me face him.

"Lily, please, something is wrong."

"Nothing is wrong! Just leave me alone!" He put his hand under my chin, making me look at him.

"Lily, I-" He was cut off by shouting by the gates. I took the moment to flee toward the noise and the crowds.

There at the gates stood Aragorn. I march right up to him and punched him in the shoulder.

"We thought you were dead!" Then I hugged him. Which totally ruined the punched. He hugged me back.

"I'm alright, just a little worse for the wear." I smiled and Gimli took Aragorn away. Roryn had caught up to me. I took one look at him and ran harder.

We were standing on the wall, waiting for the orks. What a way to die. I fingered the horse charm, my hair blowing in the wind. I stood next to Aragorn.

"We're probably going to die," I said in elvish.

"I know," he replied. "It is an honor to die beside your friends."

"Indeed."

"Lily, let's hope all of us last the night." I nodded.

"We have to try. The people are counting on us. And our people." The elves had arrived about thirty minutes ago. I shifted on the wall, filled with caffein level energy. I mean, I felt like I had, had twenty cups of coffee. Which I have never done. Ever. Fine, I did.

As I looked down on the impending army, I had a bad feeling. Let's hope I last the night.
