Pools of ocean water stared at nothing, studying the still, empty air of his apartment. They didn't shift or bat as the front door opened, already knowing exactly who it was.
No words were shared as Corbyn laid atop his best friend, face nestled perfectly between his shoulder and the couch. Daniel's hand moved to his lower back with the same silent promise.
He watched frozen lakes close from the corner of his eye. Noticing the slight discoloration of the left lid. He swallowed down the forming lump in his throat.
" I thought you couldn't come."
" So did I, but there was a change of plans," his lips were swollen and voice hoarse. Daniel only now seeing the mess of blonde sticking out in every direction.
" Come on, Corbyn. You promised this would stop," the older sighed, finally looking at him. Craning his neck awkwardly to do so.
" Dani... not now, please," Corbyn begged, hiding more against him.
" You always say that," Daniel sighed softly, running his fingers over his hips.
" I just don't wanna argue again. I just wanna be with you," the smaller's face was no longer visible. Buried fully into his neck. Hiding his bruises and hidden from the sadness mixing with ocean waves.
Daniel swallowed all the things he wanted to say. The air thick with unspoken words. Though, these days, it always seemed to be.
