A few days passed in our never changing school life, one week back into school and we were already adjusted to our usual school schedules again. Mornings went, just as always, class time went, just as always. I sat down in my seat, letting my mind wonder off, just as always... and the girl with crystal white hair known as Chitose Haruta, remained isolated by the rest of our class... just as always...
I was promptly told to keep my nose out of things and not get involved, however even so, on this ordinary mundane day, I still found my mind becoming distracted by what Chitose had told me that day.
'Don't get too close too me'
My hand partially obscure the troubled expression on my face as I leaned against it, I not so discreetly catching a side eye at her. Though I knew that she was in no way obliged to accept my offer or to like me, I still couldn't help but feel troubled by it. Part of me felt I could have pushed a little further with it, the other thought I had already pushed enough. Though, surely she didn't enjoy being bullied each day like this? Even if she didn't like me, hanging around with a group would surely help improve her situation... at least I assumed so. Maybe I was being too presumptuous...Not just that, but there was also the question if the note I found that had fallen from Chitose's pocket. I still had it on me, I hadn't had the chance to return it to her. In all honesty I was cautious if I actually should attempt to do so after what happened last time and what I had read on the note. It was Yuki's name upon it. I became aware of Yuki taking notes on the desk to my right attentively... as far as I knew, neither Yuki or Chitose had even really exchanged a glance to one another whilst in this school. So just why was it I had found Yuki's name on a piece of paper on her pocket? Did somebody put it there? That didn't seem likely... Maybe... maybe it was something like a hit request. I shook my head vigorously, trying to get those sorts if dumb thoughts out my head- no, no just because Chitose was a bullied loner, it didn't mean that she would have any ill intent towards people- at least I hoped so. Plus, Yuki had never once partook in any of the actual bullying of Chitose Haruta either, so it made no sense for her to want to involve her with anything.
Ah but there came the problem... Chitose and Yuki had absolutely no involvement with one another... maybe I was over thinking things, it could be something as simple as maybe a teacher gave her a note with the name on or maybe she was just trying to remember how to write Yuki's name. But for whatever reason, I had an uncomfortable gut feeling that there was more to it than that... One that was eating away at my mind that was often swept away with the worlds mundanity.
"Mr Yamamoto, page five please..." I heard the teacher call my name as I gave a small sigh at my inability to think on it more. I stood up to read the segment he asked me to as the day continued."Say... do you think there is any reason to write down the name of someone you don't really know on a piece of paper?" I found myself asking Yuta in the midst of break as Yuta looked up from tapping on his phone, an estranged expression on his face.
"Eh...?" He questioned as I pushed him to use his brain a little.
"Eh, isn't really much of a response..."
"Yeah, but to come out with that outta nowhere. You've been sort of out of it for the past few days.... are you not feeling well?" Yuta wore a genuine look of concern on his face.
"I don't need a counsellor right now, look just answer my question..." I huffed as Yuta kept the confused look on his face.
"I dunno, maybe to like curse them or something?"
Apparently asking this dude to use his brain was a little too much. I gave him a dull expression, grabbing my textbook from beside me and slowly raising it up. Before I then lightly hit it off his head.
"A realistic reason Yuta..."
"Ow- Geez, curses exist you know, maybe I might curse you!"
"Do you want me to use more force next time?"
"Yikes, okay okay..." Yuta backed off, a thoughtful pout coming onto his face. He gave it a moment before he then looked back to me.
"Maybe they just wanted to remember how to write their name for something?" Yuta then clicked his fingers before me. A similar conclusion to me huh? My face twisted a little as I leaned against my hand.
"That's feasible..." I replied as Yuta nodded to me.
"Totally feasible!" He replied as I slouched over a little more.
"But then what would they be needing to remember their name for?" I then questioned, Yuta seeming to twitch at this.
"How would I know?" He gave a fairly reasonable reply for once. I was going to just stop thinking about it for a while, when it was then that I heard a familiar voice from beside us.
