After Total Drama All-Stars, everyone's favorite Goth Girl Gwendolyn Alexz Cooper left Canada behind, and moved to America getting accepted into her dream college NYU, as an Art major. What the young Canadian hadn't been expecting was to find out that a few of her former Total Drama cast mates like D.J, (who after all his bad luck with animals decided to become a veterinarian) Katie and Sadie, (who were still the best of friends, but weren't as close or as annoying as they'd been in high school, and on t.v) and then there was Trent (Gwen's tv show ex, who came out of the closet after season two of Total Drama) and Lightning (Total Drama's most annoying contestant, who just so happened to be bi-sexual, and Trent's boyfriend) would also be attending NYU.

Even though these were the last five people Gwen expected to see, she didn't mind and if she was being honest it was actually comforting to have a few familiar faces around (not that she'd admit that aloud) to anyone. However Gwen quickly realized that NYU wasn't anything like she thought it would be, it was better, and for the first time in... well a really long time Gwen was happy, she no longer felt like the lonely Goth Girl she'd been in high school, nor the character that she played on Total Drama. Which is what had Gwen going with Katie and Sadie to the hair salon, and changing her hair from the Black and Teal that it had been since her 12th birthday to her original color which was Blonde, she'd even begun spending time with the two girls in order to learn how to apply her makeup (normally!!)

Gwen was even excited upon learning that her mother had found the perfect man and fallen in love again, his name was John Smith, and he was perfect for Rose Cooper, apparently John and Rose had been friends long before she'd married Gwen's father. As it turns out they had always wanted to be together, but having been such close friends they (John and Rose) were scared that if they got together and it didn't work out, they'd loose each other, not to mention the fact that Rose was already dating a boy named Aaron Cooper (The man who would turn out to be Gwen's good for nothing father) So after graduation John moved to London to become a director, while Rose stayed in Canada, married Aaron, got pregnant, and took the first good job that she could get.
One afternoon Gwen gets a call from her mother who tells her daughter "Sweetheart, I know that you're probably busy but John and his son Shawn would really love to meet you, and since he has a meeting with a talent agency in the morning, we were wondering if you'd be available to go to dinner with us tomorrow evening." "Of Course, I can! Would it be alright if I bring a friend along?" "Yes, of course! Whatever makes you feel comfortable..." Rose was saying as over the phone when Gwen heard the front door of her mother's house opening followed by whom she could only assume was John asking "So my love have you told your daughter that we are engaged yet?" "No, I had planned on doing that tomorrow during dinner but, you've just ruined the surprise!" Rose said while showing John the the phone in her hand, with Gwen's name on it. Gwen could hear as the man began to laugh, while he said "Of course I ruined the surprise, you know I'm not good with secrets, even from a distance." Gwen couldn't help but smile as she said "Congratulations, Mother! I am so happy for you, and I cannot wait to meet him, I'll see you tomorrow." before hanging up the phone and going to find her two roommates Katie and Sadie hopefully they could head out to the mall before it closed and help her find a new outfit. At dinner the next night Gwen met John and his son, a boy named named Shawn, that she remembered from her old high school a two years younger than her, and despite his weird obsession with wanting to become a Zombie, and loving The Walking Dead, Gwen thought that he was an alright kid. She even liked John, she noticed immediately how much he cared for her mother, which made Gwen happy. Knowing that the wedding wasn't taking place until July had her agreeing to fly home, and help out with whatever she could.
Her plans were changed however when one night at the end of May, when Gwen received a phone call from her soon to be brother Shawn, as he tells her that her mother and his father had died in a car accident. He apologized for not calling sooner, but apparently he had been in the car as well and had just woken up from a coma. Gwen felt as the world crumbled around her, the next morning Gwen went to all of her teachers, what had happened, getting extensions on all of her finals. Before heading back to her hometown, Gwen had barely been home when she got a call from her mother's lawyer Donna, asking her to come to their office? Gwen had considering telling Donna "No!" but knowing that she was an adult now, had her taking the appointment.  During this appointment Gwen was told that her mother had left the families home to Gwen, the only catch was that she had to leave New York, and move back home, with Shawn who was still a minor, deep down Gwen knew that her life had been to easy lately. Not wanting to lose the house that had been built by her Great Grandfather many years beforehand is what had her leaving New York City, and coming back home, and take on the responsibility of being with Shawn, even though she hadn't really known him back in high school , and they weren't technically related she just couldn't make the kid live alone. She quickly learned she and Shawn were more alike than she'd realized, which made caring for him easy. Over the next few weeks Gwen realized that she and Shawn would never be able to afford living in this big house all alone, so she not only found a job at a nearby coffee shop, but had reached out to 3  of her closest friends that still lived in Canada, asking them if they'd like to come live in her family's house with herself and Shawn? She was honestly excited when Bridgette, (whom Gwen had known since grade school) LeShawna, (whom she met in high school) and of course Zoey (whom Gwen hadn't known for quite as long, having only met the younger girl when they were both contestants on Total Drama ALL-STARS, but  they had become great friends. Gwen hated to think about the fact that she most likely would not have even met Zoey had it not been for the reality show that made her (well all of them really) household names, and local celebrities. As three different moving trucks pulled into her driveway at the same time late Saturday afternoon, Gwen couldn't hide the small smile from her face as she looked towards the Heavens and said "Thank you, Mom!" all the while some part of the goth girl couldn't help but wonder to herself "What could possibly go wrong?"
