She stared into the distance 24/7. No one knew when she moved to long island but there was just something in her that made her look alien. The other kids in the school knew only one thing about and that was her name, Enya. She always came to school 1 minute before the bell and left straight after.
'Enya Van-Ticko', called the teacher. She didn't answer just put her hand up and made a little grunt. Though out the day she never said a word to anyone, did her work with no query. She was not everyday girl to the other kids, she looked like she did not belong to the 21 century, she never made friends and when ever someone tried to talk to her she would not reply. Kids would make fun of her right I front of her but she walk of like she couldn't hear it. The strange thing was that she didn't look shy, or confident or even like a goth, just mindless. Every day her black hair with red strieks was tied in the same braid and her ebony eyes opened wide and aware but the rest of her body had a different story, like she didn't care about anything.
On her way home she stopped to tie her shoes. the big ninth grade bully Jana grabbed her by the neck of her shirt and pulled her up they kids surrounding flead leaving them surrounded by nothing. Jana was much bigger and stronger than Enya. She made no movement just stood there looking. "Why are you so weird?" said Jana.
No response.
"Speak!", she shouted into her ear.
'I don't want to cause any trouble'
'Why can't you b..',in the middle of Jana's word, Enya grabbed her arm and kicked her to the ground.
'I said I don't want to cause any trouble', she whispered and ran off leaving Jana bleeding from her forehead.
She opened the door of her father's mansion. The house was full of adopted kids just like herself, when Mr and Mrs Van-Ticko adopted her they were trying to help her out of being an orphan but when Lance Van-Ticko went mad he decided to build a super army of mindless kids. He and his wife adopted 12 kids, they brainwashed them. The family never talked or interacted with each other. You see Mr Van-Ticko placed a chip right at the back of their brain extracting all memories of their past as well as feelings like caring, love and friendship or even any other emotion they had to just figure it out themselves and the kids were never exposed to them either. When Enya turned 14 her mother felt sorry and agreed that she could go to regular school "to develop lifestyle skills" but that idea didn't work.
As she walked into the pristine white living room where every one walked around like zombies except her mother and her father. Her mother greeted her. She was always nicer to her kids and hat view made her seem like she was against the whole " make my kids mindless zombies" . But the way Mr van-tricko had abused her so much she had no choice but to agree.
She ran towards her room, but suddenly right before her last step up the stair she fell down...... into a very deep sleep.
She was in a room filled with four or five year old kids, boys and girls mixed. The room was lined with bunk bed and a heap of toys all over. The room was colourful and bright but none of the kids looked happy. A couple walked towards her, they looked like her parents but much younger. They were walking around, as if they were looking for something. They walked up to every kid and said hello except her. Her mother's eyes fell on her. She stared at her for while and then she said something to her father and pointed to her. After a while the couple left. The world seemed fine until her mother suddenly came running in and grabbed her and ran out. Enya stared to kick and scream and all the kids and ladies around her started running after her. She got shoved into the seat of a car. The car raced off and she heard the voiced of her father saying, 'we have to wipe her memory, she can't remember this day ever again. She can get home schooled and stay in complete isolation until the police give up looking for her.'
She felt a thumping feeling on her chest and started to wake up. Her mother was sitting I front of her with her hand on her chest as if she were doing CPR. All of her brothers and sisters were starring right into her face.
'Thank god, your awake, you weren't breathing and I thought you were about to die and.' Her mother grabbed her just like in her dream, she almost stopped breathing because it was so tight. The feeling was unusual to her. In school kids had talked about love and care but she never understood it, this probably what they meant. Her mother let her go and said, 'I'll be right back'.
Her mind was going through confusion but she suddenly realised that the "dream" was not actually a dream but it was her past coming back. Now she comprehends that her parents lied to her all along, they said that at a certain age a kid loses all of his or her memory and that how they know that they have passed into maturity but now all of her suspicions made sense. How come other kids remember their past? Why can't I relate to some things? Why does my brain feel so empty?. She could have just screamed but she didn't know how to, she hadn't experienced that emotion yet. Her sister Gaia walked up to her and asked, 'what's wrong, you just fell and you weren't breathing for ten minutes, mom nearly called ambulance and', she hugged her so tightly another strange feeling. Gaia was the only biological child of the family making her the thirteenth kid. Gaia was born before she was " kidnapped" into the family. Even though she was treated just the same as the others but she always seemed to act a lot more like all the other kids she saw at school. Enya said, 'I'm going to my bedroom'. She kept pacing along her room thinking if she should run away or take revenge on her parents, but she didn't know enough. She didn't even know how she was brain washed.
More importantly she needed to learn how to stop herself from passing out out of nowhere.
