Chapter 5:Awkward Is An Understatement

The bell goes signalling the end of my third period lesson. I stand up and pick up my things before walking over to the door where jade is waiting for me along with izzy.
"you took your time." izzy said as we started walking down the hall.
"no I didn't I took the same amount of time as I always do. I never thought I'd see the day you would rush for food." I say as we walk into the lunch room. We get in line and they get there lunches. As we were walking away from the counter Sonny walks up to us smiling.
" afternoon ladies are you still sitting with us" he says pointing to their table.
"course we are." izzy says with a smile.
"cool come on then." he says walking towards their table.
"guys this is izzy, jade and shelli." he says sitting next to Andy.
"I think we know who they are Sonny we have been going to school with them since nursery." he says as we take our seats across from Andy, Jack, and Sonny and I was next to Rye. He looked up at me and winked which made me blush.
"shelli do you need to go and get some lunch?" Brooklyn asked me.
"she never eats food from school she's probably got her own lunch." I roll my eyes as izzy answers my question.
"geez thanks izzy I didn't realise I'd suddenly lost the ability to speak." I say pulling out my lunch.
"what did you make" Rye asks pointing to the container.
"oh its just spinach and recotier plaster with tomatoes." I say giving him a small smile.
"How's your day been so far?" he ask turning his full attention to me.
"well it was going smoothly till I walked in here and everyone noticed me sitting on your table." I say having some of my pasta. "I mean if looks could kill I'd probably be more then six feet under."
"I'm sorry about that they seriously need to get a life." he says.
"not your fault people just like to make assumptions it's a natural thing that happens when you don't actually know whats going on." I say.
"so shelli what lesson have you got next." Andy asks smirking at Rye.
"I've got P.E next probably dodge ball." I say.
"are you and Rye going to walk to class together?" he asks. I look at my friends who both have their mouths wide open before looking at Andy.
"erm i dont think he'd want to walk with me." I say picking at my food.
"why wouldn't he want to you amazing." brook says with his signature cheeky grin. I return the smile with a small one before everyone evaporated into another conversation. It's then that I can feel someone's hand in mine. It was so comfortable that I hadn't even realised that the hand had grabbed mine. I look down then look up to see Rye smiling at me. My cheeks instantly redden. I pull my hand out say a quick goodbye before making my way out of the lunch room. Once I'm out of the door I let out the breath I was holding. I start to walk towards the changing rooms when I feel someone come up beside me. I look up to see Rye. He smiles before walking off to the boys side. I stare until he's not in sight. Well that was awkward.
