R

I sat on the end of the dock, my feet dangling off the edge as my toes barely brushed the surface of the water. I don't really get along with people that well, except for the two who are weird enough to actually be my friends. They're the only ones who actually understood me and they were seen as weird for it, but they didn't care, they valued my friendship more than what anyone else said at school, they never cared what anyone said but Something someone said always got under my skin. I heard footsteps approaching from behind me, and I turned around to see the familiar face of Spencer Smith coming to join me on the dock.

"Hey, Ryan." He said as sat down on the empty spot on the dock next to me.

"Hi." I quietly mumbled back. "So, when's this friend of yours going to be here?" I questioned.

"He should be here in a little. Oh, he's also bringing a friend with him, as well."

"Oh.." I said, looking down into the water. Spencer notices when i think something bad will go wrong, or when I think I'm not good enough when new people are around.

"Hey," Spencer said while putting his on my shoulder reassuringly. "It's going to be fine, you're going to make new friends, and everything is going to be fine.

"I- I don't know. What about that Jerk, Dallon down the street who got annoyed at me and called me a freak when I didn't talk?"

"You need to loosen up a bit, bud. You don't need to worry about him. He's not my friend anymore and Brendon isn't like that. He kind of relates to you, actually. Plus, he's bringing pizza!" he smirked and wiggled his eyebrows in order to get me to cheer up a bit. I have to admit, it worked only a little. I gave him a small smile.

"Did someone say pizza?!" I heard the voice of non other then Sarah in the background as she came up to us, a shining smile on her face and blue eyes excited as she tied her black hair into a ponytail.

"Yea, Brendon and his friend are bringing some."

"Oh great, because I haven't eaten anything since the morning, and I'll be damned if at least one of you guys didn't bring at least something to eat."

We all laughed, then I saw 2 boys, around our age, walking down the trail from behind the big tree. One had a pizza box and a bottle of Mountain Dew in his hands, and the other was sipping on what looked like a CapriSun.

Spencer turned to see what I was looking at. "Oh, here they are now!" Spencer exclaimed smiling while squinting because the sun was peeking over the trees in that direction. He waved over, motioning to us as they started walking faster.

"Hey guys!" Spencer greeted them with a big smile as they approached us. We got up off the dock to walk over to them on the grass. I kept my eyes on the ground.

The one with the CapriSun was the first to speak.

"Hey, I'm Brendon."

I looked up at the boy and my eyes were met with his dark brown ones as he smiled brightly at me. My expression softened as the corners of my lips turned up slightly, which I never do when I meet someone for the first time.
Huh that's new. Usually I don't express emotion.

"Brendon, this is Sarah, and Ryan."

"Hola!" Sarah said cheerfully, as usual.

"H-hey.." I barely managed to blurt out. I suck.

"Oh yea," he broke his gaze from mine. "This is Jon." He pointed his thumb to his friend, who waved to us.

"Hey, I'm Jon."
