Chapter 2
I'm Alana. I'm 15. I'm a basketball player, and I'm a freshman at Muyer High School. We are half way through the school year and I'm already the most popular kid in school. But I'm not like most of those popular people that treat people like crap and get away with it, but then act all sweet to lure people into a trap. No no, I'm actually my own person, occasionally nice like any other human, and I don't rely on popularity to get me farther in life. I have a lot of friends but really only two close friends, Luke and Lindsey. They are the the ones who got me to try out for basketball, and I got on the team! Lindsey is amazing and so beautiful. Luke is hilarious and so sweet and has always been protective of me ever since we met in 4th grade. He actually stood up for me in middle school when I was being picked on for being the only 7th grader who didn't have a cell phone, and we grew even closer because of that. Lindsey and I met in 8th grade cuz she had a crush on Luke and she knew we were close, so she would ask me lots of questions about him. Sometimes we would talk about ourselves and after a few months of that, BAM, we were best friends. All three of us. We told each other everything. I guess she got over the crush.
The worst part of high school is actually being at home because all my parents do is scream at me saying I'm not good enough or that I'm a stupid brat or fight with each other all night long, so I usually stay at Luke's house. Lindsey always got annoyed at that for some reason.
Today is Friday, and every Friday the trio (that's what Lindsey likes to call us) has a movie night. I love our movie nights, it's the best part of my whole week.
It's 6 so I only have an hour to get ready for school. I have basketball practice so I have to be there even earlier ugh. Around 6:30 I go downstairs to get some breakfast. My mother hears me in the kitchen and yells from her room, "You better be making me breakfast, because you don't need any more food. You have enough fat on you to last a lifetime."
I hear stuff like this everyday from her, and yet it still hurts. I really didn't want to show any sign in weakness, so I took my backpack and bag for tonight and started walking to school.
-At school-
After basketball practice I hit the locker room and showered and went to get my books. I walked to my locker and saw Luke and Lindsey talking and laughing, pretty close to each other I might add. Lindsey was even blushing.. When Luke saw me, he immediately rushed over and almost knocked me down with a hug.
"Hey Alana! Do you have any suggestions for movies tonight?"
"Hey Luke," I reply trying to regain my balance. "Uhm, we should watch a horror movie."
"But I thought you hated horror movies?"
"Yeah, but I know you and Lindsey like them so, eh why not?"
"Yay! Okay see you girls tonight!"
He gives us both quick hugs and then rushes off to class. Lindsey just kind of watches him until he disappears around the corner. Okay then..
"Uhm, hey Lindsey? Soo what were you guys talking about before I came?" She turns to her locker and slams it shut before replying coldly, "nothing.." And then stomping off to class. What the hell is up with her?
