The Party

I only agreed to go to the party to try to forget the words that were still floating in my head. A few drinks and a maybe a casual hookup sounded like the perfect distraction.

Brandon met me in the living room. I heard Kurt Cobain screaming "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from a hidden speaker. He had two solo cups in his hands and he gave me one. I took a drink. It was beer. Disgusting. I wanted to spit it back into the cup, but I gulped it down and asked, "Is there anything stronger here?"

He smiled and we went to the kitchen, taking my cup. "I think so."

Once I had a bottle of Patron in my hands, we went out to the back deck. Brandon pulled me down on the swing and used one foot to propel it.

He was quiet for a while, trying to think of something to say. "So, um, how is everything?" he finally asked. "I know things haven't been the same since, ya know, but when we-"

"Stop," I said. "I came here to not talk about her."

"I get it, and I'm sorry, but that's not exactly what I meant." He waited but I let him finish. "I meant with us and your other friends."

"They're not my friends, I told you," I said bluntly. "And it sounds like you are talking about her, so I suggest you change the subject, stop talking, or just fucking go away." I took a drink.
He picked the second option. We sat there until his beers and my Patron were gone. Finally, I dropped the bottle and he looked at me. I slid over and kissed him. His lips felt like he was surprised but he kissed me back.

"So, we gonna do this or what?" he asked.

I nodded and we went inside where he led me to his room.

The next section starts with a sex scene, but the second half is good.
