Dipper stood at the cash register, hunched over the counter with his chin resting in the palm of his hand. No one was in the shop right now and no one would be entering the shop until tomorrow. It was stupid that he had to wait until the official closing time even though, as everyone well knows, no one comes in after four. But no. He has to wait a whole other hour for the shack to close and to be able to leave. He stared at the wall, his eyes beginning to narrow due to the uneven mix of boredom and exhaustion. He watched as the grandfather clock in the room ticked and tocked, the pendulum swaying back and forth with each second that passed. Dipper's eyes followed the movement. His eyes slowly drooping as the sound of the grandfather clock surrounded him. He was just about to doze off before someone banged their hands on both sides of him causing him to let out a shout and flail backward. Dipper looked up to see who had caused him to have a minor panic attack. His eyes narrowed to form a glare upon seeing who it was.
"Goddammit, Bill! Why did you do that?" Dipper asked, voice raised and a hint of annoyance.
Bill cooed, "Aww, come on now Pinetree, don't be such a party pooper. I was only trying to have some fun." Dipper turned to the side and crossed arms over his chest. He glanced down to see Bill making a pouty face at him with his old puppy dog eyes.
"Jesus, Bill. What?!" Dipper questioned, turning to face Bill completely.
"You know, I was wondering. Once your shift is over, do you wanna go on a date. Ya know like a proper one, not just wandering around the woods looking for the supernatural. We haven't gone on a proper date in a while, so I just kinda thought that you might want to," Bill asked, propping his elbows up on the counter and resting his head in his hands.
" I don't know Bill. You know that I would love to, but you know how Grunkle Stan is. And then there's Mabel, God knows what Mabel is gonna want me to do for her-" Dipper cut himself off as soon as he saw Bill's saddened face. Dipper lifted his hand to place on Bill's cheek, "But ya know, when do I ever care about what they think, right?"
Bill's face shot up as his golden eyes began to sparkle with joy, "Really, Pinetree?! You mean it?!"
Dipper rolled his eyes with sarcasm, "What exactly would I gain by lying to you?"
Bill reached over the counter and pulled Dipper into a tight embrace, "You know I love you Pinetree."
Dipper wrapped his arms around Bill, "Yeah, I know." Dipper pushed Bill away and shooed him out the door before calling out to him, "My shift ends in an hour, you better not be late! And stop calling me Pinetree!" He leaned against the door frame and watched as Bill ran off towards town and tripped over his own feet a few times. Dipper chuckled to himself and rolled his eyes before turning to head back to the counter.
He turned around to see Mabel right in front of him. She smirked at Dipper giving him a look. She opened her mouth to speak but Dipper clamped it shut before a sound could escape her lips.
He pushed her away from his face, "Don't talk to me with your face so close, especially after drinking Mabel Juice. And don't you dare say you didn't 'cause I can smell it in your breath."Mabel stared at him in confusion before a small grin formed on her lips, "Yeah, your right. Ain't no getting nothing past you Bro-Bro. Anyway," she paused, "I happened to overhear your conversation with your boyfriend. And-"
Dipper cut her off before she could finish, "Mabel no. Whatever it is that you're thinking, I'm telling you now that the answer is no."
"But you didn't even let me pitch my idea," Mabel protests.
"Mabel you heard what I- you know what, fine. Let's hear it," Dipper replied not really in the mood to fight with her at the moment. He would just hear her out then ignore what she said.
