Asa ran downstairs as she heard her name called. Randy had planned a surprise date for them, and she was ecstatic. He had been away with his family for a month and a half. She hadn't seen him since. She loved Randy's sweet little gestures, she loved Randy with her her whole heart. "Hey, babe." He greeted her with a kiss. "Hi." Asa whispered as she hugged him. "I missed you." She rested her head on his chest. "You know what?" He paused. "I think I might've missed you more." They laughed. Asa rose to her tippy toes and kissed him again. She really had missed him.
Randy grabbed Asa's coat and hand and led her to the car. It was October and it was really cold outside. 41 degrees to be exact. Asa put her coat on once they reached the car. They drove to an open field with a truck in the center. Asa looked at Randy confused. "What are we doing?" He laughed at her curiosity. "Do you wanna go find out?" he asked. "Uhm yes, dumbass!" She seemed excited.
Asa ran to the truck in the middle of the field, Randy chasing after her, although he failed to keep up since she runs cross country, but he tried. "Oh my fucking god babe, you didn't!" Asa was over the moon. "I did." Randy said, trying to catch his breath. Asa jumped on him. "You have no idea how much I love you." She said hugging him. "Oh, sí, y no hay manera de describir cuánto te amo." She kissed him to show that she appreciated this more than she could describe. This was her dream date, and he knew that.
It was 17:45. The sun was going down and the date was just starting. Randy got the snacks out of the cab he had placed in there earlier that day, and set them down on the tray in the truck bed. He grabbed Asa by the hips and put her on the pile of comforters, blankets and pillows. Her smile made his day, hell his whole month. He hadn't seen her in what felt like forever, and the joy they felt together was more than pleasing.
Asa grabbed Randy's hand and helped him up into the truck bed. They took each other's shoes off and put them in the cab, then they got under the blankets. Randy pulled Asa close, he kissed her forehead, and watched her look at the sky. There was something about her that made him tick, her smile set him off like a bomb, her touch gave him a fucking zoo in his stomach, and the sound of her voice was something he wanted to hear forever.
Randy smiled at Asa, he grabbed her hand and pointed out all the constellations. It was like slow motion to her. She gave him her whole heart, she knew he was something to hold onto, possibly the best thing to ever happen to her. Asa had a hard time opening up, and telling people how she felt. Randy has always been so good at romantic gestures, it just wasn't in Asa's character. He made her feel alive though, like nothing could penetrate the invisible vest she was wearing. She knew it was time to tell him that. She knew he would appreciate it.
"Hey, love?" Asa asked. "Yeah?" He returned the question. "Is it okay if I tell you something?" She asked again. They were going in circles. "Anything, Ace." He seemed concerned. "I feel like you don't think I appreciate you." She paused, she was trying not to get upset about it. "And I wanted you to know that I really do, it's just hard for me to open up to people." "I know that, baby." Randy said softly, he knew she was sensitive about this. He put his hand in her hair. "When I met you, you meant something to me, Randy. I felt something for you from our first conversation, it was undeniable. But I've had trouble in the past, I'm insecure about myself." She was being completely honest with him, and he knew that, he knew it was hard, the he was he first person she had opened up to in a long time.
"You can be insecure all you want, Ace. I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere." he said. He tugged on her loose fitting shirt so she would scoot closer. By now it was pitch black, all the light there was, was the stars. "You make my world spin, you're the first guy I've genuinely been in love with. My heart skips a beat every- every time I'm around you." Asa let a tear fall down her cheek. She never cried, especially not like this. Randy used his thumb and wiped the tear off of her cheek. "It's okay, wild one. You make me tick too. You have absolutely no idea how strongly I feel for you. How deep my desire is to spend forever with you." Asa cuddled close to his chest.
She looked up at him. They were 17 years old. The rest of their lives were a blur in their eyes, but however they were gonna do it, they both wanted it to be together. Through college, through the jobs they both want to do. They both wanted to help people, and they wanted to help each other. "I love you, Randy Miller." Randy was in awe. Asa said that with so much compassion, it made his heart do flips. "I love you too, Asa Pitt." And with that they fell asleep.
