It was the night before the three would set off on their Journey. The last night in the place they called home. Where no matter what happened the knew they could turnaround and go back inside and the outside world would be shut out. They only had a few hours to make sure they had everything they would need to set them up for the years to come.

"Zane have you seen my hairbrush? It has a pink and grey handle," Cali yelled from the upstairs bathroom. Cali was very lavish. She loved looking beautiful at all times. She never left the house without her hair and makeup done. Her favorite look was straight hair with a smokey eye. I mean the look pretty much goes with anything, right?

"Yes, I saw it on the kitchen counter. Hurry up now we have to get some kind of rest or tomorrow will be brutal" Zane shouted back at Cali. Zane was one to always wear basketball shorts and a t-shirt one size to big. His favorite pair of shoes were his grey Nike slides. He wore them everywhere he went. He has dark short hair and hazel blue eyes. He loved being outdoors no matter what the weather was conditions were.

Kylin came flying past Zane "Excuse me I just remembered I didn't pack my charger and headphones. I can't make it without those. My life would be so boring." Now Kylin she was between a tom boy and girly girl. She would do her hair and makeup half the week while the other half she rocked the messy bun and yoga pants. She was a go with the flow type, hated confrontation and got along with pretty much everyone.

You see the three of them have been in foster care most of their lives. Zane and Kylin are twins. They have been at the same group home since they were 11 years old. Not many people want to adopt twin 11 year old kids. They became really close with Cali when she showed up at the home 4 years ago and they realized they all had the same birthday. Tomorrow was the big day. They all turned 18 on February 19, 2034. This day also meant they could no longer stay at the place the call home, The Smith Home for Boys and Girls. There were very strong emotions going through all of their minds. Most of it was pure excitement. You see they weren't just leaving there home, they signed up for an all expenses paid 4 year trip to an unknown island. The island was located 37,452 mile off the South East coast of Florida. They were told no one had even stepped foot on the land and they needed 3 people to make sure it was habitable for others to stay there. The United States had become over crowded by 9.8 million people and they needed to make room.

Finally, the three sat down to watch a movie and fall asleep for the last time in the living room. They had made popcorn and bought ice cream and soda. Kylin was the first to fall asleep as usual.

"Zane you know I'm starting to wonder if we are going to be okay going to this island, I mean come on it doesn't even have a name. What if we get out there and there's snakes and cougars everywhere. What if there's mosquitoes everywhere and we can't stop them from biting us? I'm going to go pack the bug spray." Cali said sounding very nervous.

"Don't worry Cal we're going to be okay. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't put us in harms way. They just need us to go there and inspect the place. You know, make sure there's plenty of water, land to build on and it's not some swampy place. We've gone over this with Stella. She seems very straight forward and honest. I don't understand why you keep doubting this." Zane calmly explained to her.

Before Cali could come back down the stairs from last minuets packing Zane was fast asleep with his blanket snuggled into his neck. Cali sat there in silence taking it all in. Realizing this was her last night here, atear slipped down her cheek. "Get it together girl, you are going to be fine!" she told her self as she laid down to sleep. A million thoughts were running through her mind. She looked at the clock 1:27 AM. She had less then four hours to sleep. 5 o' clock would come quick.

Just as she figured it felt like she got no sleep. Cali reached over to turn the alarm off. With a long pause she got up to make her coffee. As the coffee aroma filled the air Kylin and Zane woke up. They all got ready and sat on the back patio enjoying the weather. The alarm went off once more. It was time to say their goodbyes and head to the airport.

When they arrived at the airport it hit them all very hard. They were saying goodbye to their home. Not to return for at least four years. They walked through the terminal to the private jet. They checked in there luggage and went through the security check.  "Beep, Beep" it went off as Kylin stepped through.

"I'm not sure why it's doing that." She said to the security officer.

" Step this way ma'am." is all he said.

Zane and Cali looked confused as they went through the metal detector. They were clear. The officer waved the wand towards Kylin. "Beep, Beep." the wand said as it passed her stomach. "Oh my gosh, my belly button ring." She remembered. "Can I just take it out and put it in my bag?" She asked.

"No, ma'am I have to ask you to discard of it. It can be considered a weapon." he grunted back.

"Are you serious? I didn't even pack anymore!" Kylin screeched as she tossed it in the garbage can.

This time the wand made no noise.

They board the plane which consisted of five seats and a small coffee bar with some TV's on one side.

"This is nice" chuckled Zane "See Cali I told you we were going to be fine."

"Yeah, well you never know what to expect" she snarled back.

The flight took just over 6 hours. There was a small landing area for the jet. There it was, it was so green, so much green. There were trees everywhere. You could see a small creek where they had landed. It was beautiful. The suns golden rays sparkled off the water like a reflection. Cali, Zane and Kylin gathered there things as they headed for the door. When they stepped out all the could smell was fresh mother nature. It smelled like rain with a mix of gardenias and possibly a hint of salt. They turned around and waved the pilot goodbye.

"Well, ladies this is it. This is home for the next four years. Let's get started." Zane said with pure excitement.

"Okay, here we go." giggled Kylin.

"I guess this is it, huh?" muttered Cali.
