The sun was beating down but, the cool breeze made the weather amazing. The plant life was gone. The only thing beautiful about this part of the island was the weather. It looked as though someone came through and set it on fire. Faint smoke came from a few trees and dead plants. It smelled like burnt rubber. The once astonishing land was now dreary and depressing. They weren't even talking about it. As they stood there in awe it became almost unbareable temperatures. They all dressed in lighter clothing because, they knew the had a lot of walking to do.
"Zane, Cali this is exactly how it felt before I saw that creature." Kylin stuttered. She didn't want to think anything of it and she probably shouldn't have said anything. She must have slipped on something last night and hit her head so hard she hallucinated.
"Kylin what are you talking about? There are no such thing as green dwarf people!" Zane said angrily.
"I know Zane. I'm sorry." she apologized.
"You didn't have to be so rude to her." Cali put her two cents in
"You know I'm not sure why its so damn cold. Maybe it's just this area. Let's keep moving to stay warm." he said.
They started walking when a huge gust of wind came through.
"I told you it only gets cold when I'm a little nervous. I don't mean to scare you guys. I just wanted to say hello. I should have listened to my brother and stayed away." the little voice whispered.
The three turned to the right. There he stood a short, chunky, green person. He had crystal blue eyes that darted left and right faster than a fly trying to escape a room. He had silver hair that almost glittered. There were no shoes on his feet and his ears were curled like a pigs tail. The black coat he was wearing was long and drug behind him. The creature stood to Zanes waist line.
"K-Kylin is this what you saw last night?" Cali struggled to get out.
"Yes! Yes, this is him! I knew I wasn't loosing my mind! I told you! I'm not crazy!" she said with glee.
Zane couldn't get a word out. He was flabbergasted. There was no way there was a tiny green human life creature in front of him. This was only something he had ever seen on a TV screen. Here it was less than two feet away from him.
"What are you?" he was able to blurt out. "Where did you come from?"
"Well, this is my home, I came from here. My name is Toddly. I have never seen a creature as you three. Where did you come from and what are you?" he replied.
"We came from Florida, and we are humans. You know all the creatures on this planet are humans. There is no way you are from here!" Zane deemed.
"Where is your home? Everything here is diminished." Kylin asked.
"Well, we don't really know what happened. One day I was at the creek with the group and it dried up out of nowhere. Then the trees burst into flames as well as the flowers. Nothing was untouched here. You see where you are staying is sacred grounds. Nothing can happen within so far of our king's throne. We have never had this happen before and we cannot figure it out." Toddly informed.
"Wait there are others just like you?" Cali asked.
"Yes, there a 43 of us and we all live a half days away from where you are sleeping. The others don't know you're here. We have heard of your kind but, never have we been in the presence." Toddly said with a smile.
"Um, I t-think I need to sit down." Cali said with a faint cry.
The tree next to them suddenly blossomed a flower. It was stunning sky blue with yellow rings and the stem looked like a grey lavender color. Never had any of the three seen a flower with such detail, it flowed like hair in the wind. All four of them just stared without saying a word. A loud crack of thunder come from the west, making the whole ground shake. Zane almost lost his footing. He looked at Toddly with concern.
