A/N Yes Deku gets a quirk in this story, I think you'll like it though. Like Eri, his quirk doesn't come from his family, it's just there. He doesn't get it until a few months before the exams.

That is all I'm going to say for now, hope you enjoy!

Izuku's POV

I walk near a playground on the way back to my house after school. My green locks flowing slightly from the breeze.

I had a big bright smile on my face as I walked down the streets, fairly close to my house. About a five minute walk, at least.

I stopped suddenly to hear some familiar voices. I ran over to where the source of the voices. I found something I thought would have never seen.

Kacchan bullying a kid from our class. Without thinking, I ran out in front of the kid and begged Kacchan to stop.

"Kacchan what are you doing?!" I yelled angrily, yet in fear, at what he was doing.

Three of his minions stared at me with the terrifying smirks. While Kacchan frowned.

"Get out of my way, Deku..unless you wanna get beaten to a pulp like this freak next to you." He snarled, sparks coming from his palms.

I shook rapidly. I was. Afraid of Kacchan, but I wasn't going to let him do this. As expected I was beaten up.

The kid escaped, without giving me a simple thank you for letting me take the beating instead of him.

I breath heavily as I lay there on the dirt, bruised and beaten. "He didn't say thank you.."

I frowned and tears streamed down my face. "Never again will I stand up.. I get nothing in return."

Years later

"Izuku! Your going to be late for school!" My mother screamed from the kitchen.

I jump out of my bed and throw my uniform on. "Another day of beatings and mockery.. yay."

I didn't bother to bring my hero analysis notebook with me anywhere anymore. I've given up once I found out that I possibly wouldn't get my quirk.

Deep down I knew it wouldn't work out for me in my favor. Nothing ever does.

I walked down the corridor while adjusting my backpack comfortably on my shoulders.

"Good morning, Izuku." My mom smiled at me as she brought in a plate of food. "How did you sleep last night dearest?"

I started to eat as she asked the question, I swallowed and answered. "I slept great ma..like a baby.." that was a clear lie because I had bags under my eyes.

She frowned at my dishonesty and glared. "Izuku.. how much sleep did you actually get?" There was steepness in her voice.

I sighed in defeat, but I didn't lift my eyes from the sight of the plate. "I stayed up till 4 studying for exams."

"IZUKU MIDORYIA!" She shouted as she landed a fist on the table. She was angry with me. "You know that I hate it when you do that, it can seriously mess up your health one day!"

I looked up at her with a slight smile. "Sorry Mom, it won't happen again, promise."

As soon as I said that she looked more relaxed and had a small, but warm, smile. "Alright, Izuku. I forgive you dear. Now head to school before your marked tardy."

I nodded and hugged her goodbye, slipping on my red sneakers and walking out the door.

My mother looked at me worriedly and muttered, "Izuku, what is going on with you..?"

I heard that as I closed the door to the apartment. I chuckled bitterly, "I don't know either mom, I don't either.."

I avoid anything and everything distracting on the way to school. "Boy am I excited to see them again.." I rolled my eyes sarcastically.

People bump into me sometimes but don't apologize. But it doesn't bother me anymore, I don't give two rats.

I open the classroom door to all eyes directed at me. Walk quietly to my seat and sit down.

"Mr. Midoryia, you are late for the second time this month. Care to explain." The teacher put me in the spotlight and he knew it. He never really liked me.

I got a bunch of snickers from the students, yet Kacchan didn't look slightly amused.

"I slept in again, sorry sir. This will be the last time I let it happen." I say calmly, but with a small hint of annoyance. Nobody but the teacher caught that, so he gritted his teeth and demanded me to sit down.

There was a collection of laughs coming from the class, but I just stared out the window.

"So you all know that exams are coming up. But who needs those! You all want to become heroes right?" The teacher threw the paper up in the air as the students showed off their flashy quirks. I just sat there ignoring everyone.

I have given up on heroes, they are just like everybody else really. When class ended a certain hand grabbed my collar and lifted me a few inches off the floor.

I didn't see their face, but I knew who it was. I like to pretend I'm scared, or else the beatings would get worse for me.

"H-hey Ka-Chan.." I stutter as I turn my head towards him. He had a devilish smile. He disgust me, he wants to be a hero that beats his childhood friend up? What a joke.

I faked a nervous laugh as he dragged me to behind the school with his minions.
