It was the middle of fall when Esmaé and her mom moved to Flansville from Jefferson city. Her mom being the CEO of an app developing company had to travel a lot. Esmaé's mom found a nice victorian house in a small quiet neighborhood. Her mom wanted a peaceful place after the divorce with her husband. It was pretty rough on Esmaé and her mother. As soon as they moved, Esmaé really liked it. The small town was amazing to her, but something was odd about it. She couldn't quite put her finger on it yet. Her new high school was very small compared to the one in Jefferson. It seemed quiet, nice, and the students were very kind to her. There was an nice guy that caught her attention. He was in her class and also lived down the street from her. On the third day of living in the new town, she found out his name was Nathaniel Westwood. He was a very handsome, young man and always seemed like he wanted to start a conversation but never struck up the nerve to do it. Since the day she laid eyes on Nathaniel, Esmaé started to like him.
Three days after they moved her mom got a call back from the company. Some big app was going to be launched in a week and she had to be there for the preparations. Esmaé was upset that her mom had to leave for the weekend. "Mom do you really have to go? Can someone else fill in for you? I don't want to stay by myself here. Can I come with you?", Esmaé begged her mom. Her mom just looked at her over her laptop a little annoyed. "Esmaé you are sixteen years old. You are a big girl now and can stay home alone for two days. I'll be back Sunday afternoon, okay? I'll leave you money and if anything happens go to the Westwood's house," said her mom as she closed her laptop. Esmaé looked a little disappointed but didn't argued with her mom. She knew better. Arguing was going to get her nowhere.
