THE NEXT DAY, ISAAC WOKE UP ON ELEANOR'S bedroom floor in a shirt twice his size and a black cat hissing in his face. He jumped up, using the big blanket Elle had given him to hide under. The cat wouldn't stop hissing at him, causing Eleanor to wake up and give a small yawn. She stretched, her arms reaching out over her head, then proceeding to rubbing her eyes.Isaac looked up at her, hoping she would get rid of the cat so he wouldn't get caught in her room. Upon hearing the cat, Eleanor pushed the covers off of her and quickly tried to grab it. The cat, however, had a different idea. He jumped out of Elle's arms and landed on Isaac, letting out a loud cat-like sound (which Elle thought almost sounded like a yodel). Isaac let out a small yelp, which caught the attention of Rosie passing by the door to get to the bathroom.
"Elle, are you okay in there?" she stood ear the door, trying to listen in.
"Oh, god," Eleanor froze for a second. "Uh, yeah, everything is fine!" As fast as she could, Elle made her way to her bedroom door and locked it. Turning to Isaac, she walked back to her bed and said,"Are you okay?" The cat ran to the window meanwhile, letting out one last hiss before jumping out onto the ledge.
Isaac nods. "Uh, yeah." He fixes his posture and sits up, loosening his grip on the blanket and letting it fall to the carpet. He then went quiet, not exactly knowing what to say.
Eleanor knew that Isaac wasn't always the most sociable person. So, instead of trying to pry a real answer from him, she let him be and walked over to her closet. Looking through her clothes, she went in her own little world as she tried to decide on what to wear for the day.
Isaac looked around the bedroom. It was hard to tell what kind of person Elle was through how she decorated it. There wasn't much in it or on the walls. Which, he could understand why. She had recently moved here about a month ago, just a few days before Winter Formal. As he glanced around, he noticed the cat lingering around the opened window in the room. Its eyes glowed a bright yellow, and it let out a tiny purr. Then, the cat went through the window and onto the roof of the house and disappeared.
A few minutes pass, neither teen saying anything to each other mostly because Elle was too indulged into her own little world of accessories and shoes for the outfit she ended up picking. Turning around, she noticed Isaac sitting on the edge of her bed with his elbows on his knees and head in his hands.
"Isaac," she took a step closer to him,"are you sure you're alright?"
He didn't say anything back to her. He squeezed his eyes shut, feeling a sharp pain in his head. It slowly ran down his body, and he knew that at any second he was about to pop. Rage was filling up inside his body, and he didn't want anything bad to happen within the next few seconds if he stayed any longer.
So, before Eleanor could say anything else to him, Isaac pushed himself up off the bed and ran towards the bedroom window. Quickly, Isaac propped one leg up and out the window and just as he was about to jump out, Elle raced over to him and grabbed his arm.
