Bryn Daunt's POV
Today is the first day of grade 12 for my friends and I. The school materializes out of the fog as I drive up in my red convertable Mustang. The car motor ceases purring as I turn it off and grab my duffel bag which doubles as my school bag from the passenger seat. My group of friends wave at me from the opposite side of the glass at the front of the school. I walk through the big glass double doors and am immediately greeted with a light punch in the right shoulder. I turn around to flash my trademark grin at my companion.
"Zane, would it kill you to greet me in a civilized manner just once in your life?" I ask, looking directly at the tall athletic brunette standing in front of me with his left hand shoved into his pocket. He shrugs and laughs lightly.
"It very well could Bryn. How you been Dauntless? Nice ride." And there it is, the nickname I picked up after my friends and I went to see Divergent two years ago.
"Thanks, the ride was a gift from my grandparents in England." The rest of my friends have surrounded me as I walk to my first period gym class.
"So Bryn how is Kieran doing?" My best friend Kelli Bright asks quietly, falling into step beside me.
"He's alright, been rather happy since we started dating last month."
"Whoa, whoa! What?" Rebecca stops short at the door to the girls change-room.
"Geez, I go away to Stayner for the summer and you get a boyfriend.""Well you would have known if you stuck around here during the summer," Tay jokes, flashing a smile in Becky's direction. The five minute warning bell rings and my friends all wave good-bye.
"The five of us will save you a spot in the cafe at lunch." Zane yells behind him, shouldering his backpack as he walks over to his group of hockey friends. I quickly turn around and walk into the change-room, to be sure I'm not the last one out. My teacher, Mrs. Haste doesn't take kindly to those that are slow.
Within three minutes, I'm changed and walking down the hallway towards the gym wearing my work-out clothes which consist of a blue wicking tank top and soccer shorts from this years season. I'm about to walk through the gym door when a handsome, rich voice calls to me.
"Hey gorgeous. How you been?" I roll my eyes and turn around only to be staring into the bright green eyes of one of the most popular boys in school.
"Hello Gunner," I replied coldly.
"Beautiful why so closed off?" I glare at him.
"Stop talking to me like that Joshua. We aren't together, so stop." His eyebrow raises in his usual cocky manner before moving closer and leaning down next to my ear.
"We could be together you know." Gunner whispered. I put my hand gently against the centre of his chest.
"No, we can't for three reasons."
"Oh?" He asks curiously.
"One, you tried that already. Two, I have a boyfriend." I pause, back away and turn on my heel going towards the gym door.
"What's the third reason?" Josh yells after me. I turn around to see him standing with his friends, calmly awaiting an answer. Shooting daggers at him with my glare, I answer coldly.
"I know who you are."
⚡️🔱Joshua Gunner's POV
I look into her dark brown eyes as she turns around to tell me the third reason we couldn't be together. Oh man, if looks could kill...
"I know who you are." She replies, instantly I know what she's talking about. The guys look at me confused but I wave my hand dismissively.
"Guys, I got spare right now so I'll see you later alright?"
