Flames

The bright orange flames danced against the darkness of the night. The thick grey smoke rose higher and higher into the sky. I  spun around and struggled with the window latch it was getting harder to breath,my lungs were bursting ,pleading for air.  I tried the latch again ,nothing. The flames were getting closer and closer I glanced around.I was trapped .

I could hear the crackling of the flames getting louder the smoke was stinging my eyes.Tears streamed down my cheeks the flames formed a glowing circle around me .No where to run no where to escape. In a last desperate attempt to open the window I collapsed. All I could make out was the sorrowful howl of a pack of wolves and for some reason that is still unknown to me , a reason I cannot explain I felt connected to the wolves like I was one of them. Like we were family.

I woke up in a cold sweat gasping for air as if I was still trapped in the room. Oh god I muttered under my breath as I checked the time on my phone 3 o'clock in the morning . I got out of bed careful not to disturb anyone.I glanced at Emily my foster parents' daughter. To me Emily is like the sister I've never had or maybe even the sister I don't remember.I breathed a sigh of relief when I see her still fast asleep. For as long as I can remember I've lived with my foster family, they are all I have since the fire I'm so grateful for them but I can only remember small details about my past such as my name but the rest is... well gone.

I slip on my robe and make my way carefully downstairs to make myself a mug of hot chocolate.I'ts a routine for me now. I see my foster mom Julie fast asleep at the dining room table. She owns a small business and works from home. She is so amazing and hardworking.I kiss her on the forehead  and cover her with a blanket.I rub my eyes and yawn before turning on the kettle.I stiffle a yawn and make my hot coco before sitting on the coach with the mug in my hands. I wait until the coco is warm enough to drink before draining the mug. When i'm done I rinse the mug and splash my face with cold water.Well I'm not exactly tired  I told myself so I trudged back upstairs pulled on a pair of joggers leaving my white T-shirt on went back down to put on my pair of running shoes and a hoodie.

It was Autumn so the early morning was kinda cool but not cold. The sky was still dark and the stars were beginning to fade away but it was slowly getting lighter.I tied my messy chestnut brown hair into a fairly neat ponytail and decided to take the route through the park.
