lacuna - (n.) a blank space, a missing part.It wasn't unexpected. I knew Jonah and I weren't meant to be from the very beginning. We had nothing in common and shared no interests. We made a cute couple though; everyone was jealous of our love. Our relationship was set purely on our classmate's acceptance. Pictures we posted together got an insane amount of likes and comments. Everyone kept showering us with compliments and quite frankly, I liked the attention.
I'm not one of those girls who blinds you with her beauty or has a dazzling personality. I'm quite plain actually. I have straight brown hair, brown eyes and kinda pale skin. There's nothing too special about me. That's why I was surprised when Jonah Allen, captain of the football team and cutest boy in our town asked me out. And of course, I accepted. Jonah is not plain or basic. He has tan skin, curly light brown hair, sparkling green eyes and dimples on his cheeks whenever he smiles. You must be wondering what a boy like him is doing with a girl like me. Well, I don't know either! But I was in heaven.
Soon I came crashing back down to reality. Jonah was really nice and funny and handsome and sweet but..... there was something missing. A spark was missing. He felt more like a friend than a boyfriend to me and I knew he felt the same way. Sure, he was the perfect guy but I guess we weren't meant to be. I wish we were though. Things would be so much easier if we were. But the universe works in weird ways. So that's why I wasn't surprised when Jonah said we should see other people.
It still hurt though.
