As the snow slowly fell, adding to the blanket, Gendry watched Winterfell slowly get closer and his heart get faster. What if Arya hated him? She seemed to hate him when he left. She said they could be a family. She told him. Begged him. But he couldn't just listen to her. He had to make everything ten times worse.
"I can be your family"
Those words rang in his ears, through his mind, every day. He would love to be her family, more than anything. He'd give the world.
"Davos,"
"Yes?"
The words he wanted to say were stuck in his throat.
"It doesn't matter,"
"You're sure?"
Gendry nodded. He wanted to tell him how scared he was. Because, the feeling in his chest was over whelming for him. But he couldn't talk to anyone. No one could understand but her.
Davos stopped his horse and looked Gendry in the eyes.
"If you're having doubts... now's your chance,"
"No. No doubts. It's just... I'm-" he sighed "it doesn't matter," he kept moving on, "let's go,"
As they got closer his stomach turned funny. They rode through the gates and he got down from his horse. He noticed his hands, trembling. He took a deep breath to compose himself as the tears threatened to come.
Come on. Pull yourself together.
He turned around and joined Davos as they walked through the castle to the great hall.
"My Lord, this is Gendry Waters"
"I'm Robert Baratheon's son. I see no point in lying to you. Our fathers trusted each other," he smiled, "Why can't we?"
Jon smiled. Gendry had a comforting ora that made the room feel relaxed.
"Thank you," Gendry turned to Bran, confused.
"I'm sorry my lord?"
"Thank you for everything you did for her,"
Gendry's smile fell almost as quick as his heart. Outside the hall there was the sound of running before the doors flew open, revealing Arya.
"Gendry?" she whispered.
"M'lady,"
