"Search the perimeter and the spots, then report back."
The sounds of footsteps and low chatter filled the air as we all held our breath; it only sounded like there was about five people- cops or not. I looked to Colby, who had his eyes shut tight. I took his hand and squeezed it, grabbing his attention. When he looked over, I gave a reassuring nod, then let out a slow deep breath.
We sat in the quiet, only hearing distant talking or footsteps ever so often; it stayed like this for about five minutes before Elton decided he would take a risk to look around the corner to make sure no one was there. I put my arm up around Colby's shoulder and got ready to try and run while Elton carefully looked. He did a 360 around the wall, then turned to us to give the OK. Colby stood up slowly, letting me do the same, then scooped me up to carry me again. Just the motion from the floor in the air made my ankle scream- I bit my lip and closed my eyes as hard as possible to stop the pain-filled grunt from escaping my mouth.
"You alright?" Colby whispered to me.
I quietly nodded, still biting my lip. Colby gave a ready-to-go nod and Elton slipped around the corner. Colby followed as he made his way to the front. Although the bathrooms were by the entrance, we knew it was best to go on the side in order to go out the back and not be seen. A few more steps and we were at the fence, all that was left was to hop the fence and get the hell out of there. Colby went over first, then it was my turn. Elton made a step grip with his hand, which I was able to use with my good foot while the other still throbbed. I hoisted one leg over the wall, then had to stop from the pain.
"Holy fuck," I cussed, gripping onto my thigh and recoiling my foot.
"It's okay," Elton said, heaving himself up to where I was. "we're almost out,"
"Right," I slowly nodded, then lifted my other leg over.
I jumped down to the ground where Colby caught me, then picked me up again.
"Hey! Hey you! Get over here!"
"Oh shit," Elton's head shot around just before he jumped down to us. "cops- go!"
I held on tight while they both sprinted to the other side of the park; I could hear people calling after us as we turned the corner, starting to running faster. Whoever was chasing us (cops, security, anybody,) seemed to fall behind as we didn't see them. Elton was able to pull out his phone and call Corey; the phone rang for about four rings without them answering,
"Pick up, dammit," Elton whispered as we kept running. Finally, Corey picked up,
"Yo? Elton?" Corey said over speaker. "Elton, are you guys good?"
"Corey we need you to pick us up- we're literally running from the cops right now and Trianna's foot isn't doing well," Elton told him.
"Elton," Colby saw the street coming up and gestured to a Wendy's. "we should try to get in there, the cops are far enough behind us,"
"Wait, what's happening?" Corey's worried voice asked.
"Yeah, let's go in there," Elton agreed, turning towards it.
"Corey- we're going into this Wendy's directly on the other side of the street. You should be able to find it if you circle the park,"
"Colby, put me down so it doesn't look weird," I told him, starting to get out of his arms as we slowed down.
