My body ached with pain. I was laying down on the seat, scrunched up in a ball. My neck was tucked between my chest and knees. I yawned and stretched out my sore body.
"Hi honey. How was your nap?" My mom asked without taking her eyes off the road.
"Great. How long was I out for?" I yawned.
"About three hours." She replied.
Wow, I hadn't known that I slept that long.
"How many more hours?" I asked.
"About three or four more hours. We should be there at around three or so."
I groaned. I didn't want to be stuck in this car any longer.
"Is there a gas station or someplace were we can stop? My legs are hurting me and I need some fresh air." I complained.
And to be honest I kind of had to go to the bathroom too.
"Yeah there's a place coming up in a few more miles. Just hold on a little we will be there soon." She said.
I slouched down in my chair and closed my eyes until my mom said we were here. At the first chance I got I leapt out of the car and dashed for the bathroom. Luckily there was no line so I just ran right in. When I was done doing my business I flushed the toilet and washed my hands.
Well that was a delightful pee, I thought to myself as I walked out the bathroom door.
I joined up with my mom inside the little gas station store. She greeted me and asked what I wanted to get.
"You can get one thing and that's it."
I decided on a bag of Mini Oreos. I eagerly grabbed the bag and placed it on the counter.
The check out lady looked a little too old for her job and also looked a bit annoyed. She had dyed brown hair that now had some gray roots showing. Her eyes were dark brown too and wrinkles were starting to appear on her face.
The lady looked at me kind of funny. It had just occurred to me the I looked strange wearing my pajamas but I didn't care.
My mother came up from behind me and handed her the money. I snatched my babies away from her and hurried out the door. My mother followed suit and we made it back to the car. We both got in, drove away, and continued our long journey.

We pulled up in front of a house. No not a house more like a mansion. I sat, there looking out the window in awe.
My mom must have noticed because she commented, "Beautiful isn't it?"
I nodded my head at her. But the truth was it wasn't beautiful, it was gorgeous. Tears welled up in my eyes knowing that my house was nothing compared to this.
The front yard was huge with a couple of small tress on it. The grass was perfectly cut and not one single leaf was on it.
The actual house was white. It looked exactly like a modern house except much bigger. Each window had navy blue window shutters. There was not one single scratch on the house.
Both of us stared at it until my mother finally decided to get out of the car. I followed suit. I grabbed my things from the trunk and started walking up the driveway.
I followed the path that lead to the front porch of the house. The path was made of stone, each in different shapes and sizes. We finally made it to the porch and my mom opened the door with the key she got from the realtor.
As I walked inside, the first thing I saw was this great, twisting, mahogany staircase. I started to climb it, running my hand along the glossy rail.
I could see a hallway on the second floor. It looked so beautiful, I started to climb faster. And then I fell.
Darn slippery stairs.
"Payton, honey are you okay? I heard a crash?" My mom exclaimed.
"Yeah mom I'm fine I just slipped."
"Ok well then if your so excited to see the house then why don't you pick out your room?" My mom asked.
I picked myself up and started running to find a room even though I almost fell again. Clumsy me! As I turned the corner I stepped into a small room with mint green walls.
The windows let in a large amount of bright light, and the carpeting was creamy white, that was as soft as it looked. Because there was no bed in my room yet I decided to lay on the carpet and look up at the ceiling.
This is it, I thought to myself. This is my new room.
***
I was bored out of my mind. There was nothing to do in this house. It was almost noon and my dad still hadn't come with the movers yet.
So I decided to entertain myself. I made up a game called, "stare at a light until you start seeing little back dots everywhere". It was a successful game until I started to feel dizzy.
I then came tumbling down the stairs to ask my mom if she could somehow entertain me. After looking through a few rooms to see if she was there I finally found her in the family room.
The room itself was totally bare. It had chestnut hardwood floor and sky blue walls. One wall had two big windows. The one thing that caught my eye was the glass French doors. The sun light flooded into the room, almost filling it.
And there was my mother standing in front of the doors and blocking some of the beautiful light from making it to their destination: the family room.
She was staring out the doors and looking at the back yard. I decided to join her because I had nothing better to do and to be honest I kind of wanted to see the back yard.
I strolled up to the French doors and asked my mom what she was doing even though it was obvious.
"I'm just seeing what our new back yard looks like." She replied.
There was a awkward silence between us so instead of talking I peered out the door to look at the yard. What I saw amazed me.
The back yard was huge and beautiful. If you were to walk outside you would be greeted by beige cement that covered half of the yard.
The other half was covered by neatly cut grass. It's looked so perfect and yet soft.
At the end of the yard there was a great white fence. The garden wasn't much to gaze at, but it started where the cement stopped and went all along the perimeter of the grass until it met the other side of the cement. With a little bit of fixing up my mom could turn the garden into something beautiful.
But in the middle of it all there was a huge in-ground pool. (With a diving board too!)
After looking at the backyard for a decent amount of time I awkwardly stared at my mom who was still gazing at the backyard. The awkwardness was interrupted by my growling stomach.
"Maybe we should go get something to eat." I suggested.
My mom agreed to that.
I looked down at my phone for the time. It was already 1 o'clock. Dad should be coming soon, I thought to myself. I checked my phone to see if there were any places near where we could go get a bite to eat. With a frustrated sigh I gave up looking and just decided that we would probably find someplace near here where we could get lunch.
Quickly I grabbed my jean jacket and made my way to the door. I followed my mom out the door and to our car. And just like that we got in and drove away.
The end of chapter 2 is here! Sorry for updating the way I did. But I won't do that anymore. Anyway I was having trouble coming up with a new cover so my friend helped me with it! This chapter is dedicated to timesrunningout bc she made this beautiful cover for me! Thank you!~Aud
