You’re always there
To laugh with me
So I didn’t see the man
Who loves to see me smile.
You’re always there
To talk with me
So I didn’t hear the man
Who says my voice sounds sweet.
You’re always there
To keep me company
So I didn’t notice the man
Who wishes to sit next to me.
You’re always there
To wipe my tears
So I didn’t witness the man
Who weeps when I’m hurting.
You’re always there
To show and tell me you care
So I wasn’t aware of the man
Who worries when I’m not okay.
You’re always there
To get my attention
So I haven’t set eyes on the man
Who watches me with admiration
You’re always there
To pretend you love me
So I didn’t feel the love
Of the man who genuinely does.
You’re always there
Saying you won’t leave me
But without a word
You left me hanging.
You’re always there
Saying what you feel is true
But now I see where I stand
I was just a challenge to you.
Now that you’re gone
I felt so lost
Where should I go
How can I move on?
I need to let go
Of your memories
So I can be with the man
Who cherishes me.
