"...I want everyrhing spotless upon our return, Y/N. Remember, these are not just any visitors we would be having," Mrs. Huang instructed as she and her husband get ready to leave. "And if you get tired, don't mind taking some rest as you have some company to help you. We would be gone for hours anyway. And also, don't let Tao out of the house, alright?"
"Yes, madame," you answered with a firm nod.
Mrs. Huang walked towards you and caressed your cheek. "Very well then, dear. We'll be off now," she said before the couple strutted their way out of the manor.
"You heard what madame said, everyone. Let's get to work," you told your fellow maids and headed to grab your brushes and brooms. Then you proceeded to split up and start to clean your own spots.
After a while of cleaning, you found yourself inside the fourth room - Tao's room. Your whole body is soaked in sweat. All the rooms are gigantic and you cannot just help but feel easily exhausted despite of years of doing such work.
You started working for the Huang family after they discovered you on the streets. You were homeless that time as your parents were both killed in a massacre. In exchange of keeping you in and helping you study, you had to serve the family as much as you can which you do not regret. You are the most grateful for Mr. and Mrs. Huang.
The door opened. Usually, you wouldn't stop and just continue your job, but the presence was a bit too different this time you cannot help but halt.
"Y/N?" Tao's soft voice went straight through your ears.
There goes your heart once more. If there is anything you would regret of staying here is accidentally falling in love with the heir of the family.
You shrugged the feeling off and continued your work.
"Are you ignoring me?"
"Is there anything you need, sir?" you questioned.
Tao's brows began to furrow at your actions. "You sound so formal, Y/N... You don't call me sir. You never call me that because you know I don't like to," he stated.
"But it is just the right thing to do,"you responded. "Your parents ordered us all to call you that, therefore you and I and the rest of the people here shall call you that whether we like it or not."
"Y/N?" he called out softly, your heart nearly exploded when he held your west. His touch was so gentle it made you melt. "Is there something wrong??" he asked, turning you around and your eyes met with his.
You felt like drowning in his orbs.
"Sir---" your breath hitched when his eyes darkened. "Tao..."
"Please tell me what's wrong," he spoke ever so softly. "Did I do something wrong??"
"I think we are..." you uttered out, tearing your gaze away from his.
"Y/N... This cannot be about that silly rule our family has again."
"It is not a silly rule, Tao," you hissed. "It's something your family has passed on in every generation. I would not want to break that rule. Especially that I owe your parents a lot," you added. Every bit of words that came from your mouth hurt you both. "We're still young... And so are these feelings. If we ignore them they would probably go away. Besides, you already have this girl your mom and dad wishes you to marry, right?"
