SECOND CHAPTER
Si Jonathan Reyes . A young resident in bacolod busiest hospital. Siya ay nasa middle child sa limang puro lalaki.
He has been constantly on the go, trying to prove himself worthy of recognition.
kaya ang kanyang ina nagpupumilit na magbakasyon siya.
"Anak , take a long one week vacation. para malayo ka naman sa hectic schedule mo."
Kahit minsan na kakainis na si Mommy, though almost i made miss the last trip of the day from Caticlan to Boracay . Gumising akong late today at mag impake ng mabilis habang enduring another one of her agonizing lectures.
Nang maalala ko ang kwentuhan namin all the way from Bacolod to Iloilo to Kalibo. Somehow mga sharpwords na sinasabi ng Mommy sakin is a little bit tiring than usual.
"Para kang Zombie Jon . Yes , successful ka nga sa profession mo at dedicated ka sa work mo. para ka na ngang nakatira sa hospital pero huwag mu naman aabusuhin ang sarili mo at huwag mong babaliwalain ang mga taong nag aalala sayo. Alagaan mo naman ang sarili mo anak."
"All I ever did was for you to proud of the man I have become Mom, despite the hard life we've had.
"Pero Anak, ang gusto ko para sayo ay maging masaya ka"
"Okay Mom , para wala ng pagtatalo. Okay one week vacation."
"Hay Anak ko . Okay , baka dun mu na rin makikita ang Prinsesa mo." Hehehe
"Mom naman nagpapatawa kaba? tsk! ma mi-miss ko talaga ang pagtatalak mo sakin." Hahaha
"Hmmm?? Sige na anak . Be Happy!
FAST FORWARD
Nandito na ako nang Boracay naglalakad. humahanap ng masisilungan.
May nakita akong babae sa puno ng buko mag-isa sa beach towel.
Nilapitan ko baka sakali pumayag siya na maki silong. pakapalan na lang dito ng mukha.
Nilipat ni Liz ang pahina ng binabasa niyang libro ng may isang anino naka tumbad sa kanya.
"Hi ! pwede bang maki share ng upuan sa beach towel at maki silong sa puno kasama mo?"
"Why not? i might as well share better pick up lines with you too.
Im Liz Vergara from Bacolod and you are?"
"Jonathan Reyes, Im from Bacolod too! Small world huh!? Kadadating ko lang dito last night."
"I got here yesterday morning. I was ordered by my doctor to take a vacation."
"Hahaha Funny, I was nagged my mother into takinh this vacation too!"
"I wonder what else we have in common."
They spent the next four days together finding out of there were many things they didn't have in common.
Si Liz lumaki sa crowded
barangay. Likes niya R&B. taga La Salle siya nag-aaral. She's agnostic. She's a liberal with a conservative upbringing. She values her Family above all else. She likes coffee , iced and mocha-flavored.
Si Jonathan naman lumaki sa exclusive village.Likes niya ang heavy metal. taga UP siya nag-aaral. He is an atheist. He is conservative with a liberal education. He values his career over his family. And He likes coffee, hot and black with no sugar.
One thing did have in common was that they enjoyed each other's company.
In the mornings lumalabas sila pareho para makita nila ang sikat ng araw at gumagawa sila ng sand castles.
And in the afternoons, umuupo sila sa anino ng puno at nagkwe-kwento about about politics. minsan nga nagde-debate pa sila.
And the nights they spent lying together in the hammock at the veranda of her cottage.
They gazing the waning moon, telling each other of the childhood dreams both now find no more purpose in.
The city of Bacolod is a small place and there is no doubt that they have atleast once crossed each others path.
Here on the island their paths crossed again no longer as strangers.
