Raindrops

The dull grey clouds reflected me, boring and lifeless. I stared the view for a moment before closing the window. Taking slow steps towards the mirror, a girl stared back at me, her stare poking and piercing through my soul. She was wearing a white lace wedding gown, holding a bouquet of flowers, a veil fixed on her head, this one is about to get happily married. Well, that's how other people think when they see me.

In my sight, instead of that happy bride, all I saw was a woman covered in bruises and cuts, her eyes screaming for help, her veil turned to a crown of spikes, her wedding dress to rags and holding a bouquet of wilted flowers. A prisoner in her own destructive world. Society has expectations on every individual. And those expectations are high, very high. People has eyes on our actions, silently judging and criticizing, putting on fake masks and sugarcoating harsh words. That's the sad truth and it's disgusting.

I turned around and saw the things I prepared earlier. The rope hanging from the high ceiling and a table right below it. Yeah. I am about to marry... death. I can live happily with death- oh the irony.

"You're such a disappointment."

Cutting my skin with those glares...

"You're not the person I expected to be."

Throwing painful words to me...

"A disgrace!"

A big fresh slap on my face...

"I love you."

Despite it all, his words shined. Those three words overpowered all the hatred pushed towards me. Love became my shield from this unforgiving land. We battled against the world. Two people against the universe... We lost. I lost.

I lost him.

But now, I will be with him once more and forever. I'll join him in the depths of darkness and loneliness.

The rope against my neck felt itchy but I didn't care. Standing on a chair wearing heels isn't the best idea. A tear rolled down my cheeks as a raindrop would race down the glass window. I released a shaky laugh. All will end soon. As I heard the thunderclap,

I leaped.
